If you have no luck buying one here, check out the organizers of ADZPCTKO. They have connections of sellers and lenders of bear cannisters for PCT thru's.

Thx i checked that site with no luck.. I would just assume theres 1000 bearvaults that people bought out there and have no use for anymore

i dont think u can use those on the JMT
It's against the park rules, but I'll probably use one to supplement my bear can. I don't think it's possible to find room for two cans, but I'll need to carry more food than can fit in one if I wish to meet my dietary goals. I may end up starving myself thru bear country to save weight, but I'd rather not.
You probably already know this, but better to repeat something you know than ignore information you might not know but could use. you can rent canisters at the ranger station in Yosemite. I think they only offer Garcia; I used a Garcia last year and managed to stuff enough food into it. Bought a couple of small items at Reds Meadow and also at VVR plus had a food bucket waiting for me at Muir Trail Ranch. Had a bit of food left when I got to Lone Pine.

Ugh, dammit. You should post on some of the PCT forums, even the PCT-L, and then maybe backpackinglight. It's usually impossible to find a used Bearikade.

Believe me, this guy doesn't really want to sell the Bearikade, if he even has one. I ran a wanted ad on here over a year and a half ago and Chicken_man responded to that ad. Here's a link to the original post:

He tried to pawn it off on me for $10 less than what they sell for new. When I messaged him that he wanted almost as much as a new one and said that he must not want to sell it very bad, he gets back to me saying "not to me." Obviously he didn't want to sell it too bad since he's back on here with it again over a year and a half later. I ended up getting a near new Expedition from another member on here for a very fair deal. I'd beware of any dealings with Chicken_man.
