I told my children to move me into assisted living if they find me in the woods with any of the following.

hiking with an umbrella
hiking with ear plugs (walkman, etc.)
wearing tights (anytime)

I told them when I enter into Alzheimers, just to release me on the AT. I'll do fine.

I guess it never gets cold enough in Florida for tights. They are a tool of the trade for winter hiking here.

Down in Maryville where I,m from "real men don't wear tights" I guess they do in Kingsport. Just Kidding.
BTW .. This is on the Humor forum.

Many years ago (1959) I hiked on a trail near Kingsport called the Davy Crockett Trail. Does that trail still exist?

You won't wear tights? Well then, I'm not going to tell you I wear panty hose in winter, so there :p

I'm getting a DNR tattoo just like Hooch (prolly for the same reason), right in the middle of my chest!!!

I got a chuckle out of that. I'm not sure that's ACTUALLY Hooch. (Unless he's started wearing a certain garment for support and his hands have aged a lot.) :D

Too bad that tats are not a sign of legal intent! A DNR is only valid for one year in most states! Also makes it kinda hard to change your mind.:D:D

Are you sure you are not thinking about Kingston? I have never heard of a Davy Crockett trail - Kingsport or Kingston?

Or, if your name is Mike Schiavo, it's only valid for 20 seconds.

I researched a little deeper. The trail we walked was on Hwy 11e, halfway between Johnson City and Greeneville. I believe it was about 12 miles. Probably what is now the Davy Crockett State Park area. I was only 12 so my memory may not be so good. It was a prep hike for the AT hike we did in 1960.
happy trails
