My wife Mudpie needs a serviceable jacket/hard shell for her job as an outdoors educator. We can't afford something new right now. Weight is not an issue. It needs to be large or Xtra-large so she can layer under it at times like now when it's cold and. My undersytanding is that Gore-Tex is pretty good at waterproof/breathable and fairly tough. Like to spend no more than $50.
