Want to buy a down vest, size XL, preferably Western Maintaineering or Montbell.
Which WM down vest are you seeking?

I am looking for the Flight Series Vest, thanks.
I have a Flash XL in black. I wore it less than 1/2 dozen times. Super nice UL about 4 oz 850 down. It's great as an inner/middle insulating layer for a vest. It provides excellent warmth to wt ratio. The only reason I would part with it is because I mostly use my vests as outer layers and I like to have hand pockets when I use them that way. The Flash doesn't have pockets. The Flight is not only heavier, but I think warmer, and it has pockets.

Thanks Dogwood, but I think I need the extra warmth and pockets with the Flight. I am trying to replace a 25 oz TNF down jacket with my new Montbell Thermawrap jacket under an awesome vest.
Thanks again.

Are you interested in a Montbell EX Light Down Vest in XL?
I bought one a few months ago and never wore it.
It is brand new.
I opted for a Down Jacket.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I am looking for the Montbell UL version which weighs a little more but has pockets.
Thanks
How do you like the MB Thermawrap? I have the Thermawrap jacket and vest. Great pieces. They DO have athletic fits. Even with my lean/thin frame my Lg Thermawrap is snug. I have to be careful with what I wear under it. I wish I had ordered an XL. You however are choosing to wear whatever vest on the outside of the Thermawrap. You are opting for a down vest over a synthetic jacket. Humm. I would appreciate on knowing how that works out for you. That sounds very warm, maybe even toasty hot.
I also have the MB UL Down Inner Jacket - Shwweet! The other down vest I own is the RAB Microlight - another very nice warm high quality piece! You might consider that as a purchase. I strongly doubt you will find anyone would part w/ the RAB Microlight vest though! It is possible but I think you will also have a difficult time trying to locate a WM Flight vest for sale used too! Those kinds of quality pieces are snapped up fast! Good luck with the search.

I absolutely love the Montbell Thermawrap jacket. I am 6 foot tall and 235 and the XL fits great although probably not much room underneath for a puffy vest:( I have a TNF down jacket that is very warm, but heavy at 25 oz, so I am trying to replace it with two garments (the thermawrap and down vest). The combination should be lighter, provide more flexibility, and get me down to 10-15 degrees around camp when covered with my Precip rain shell. I only expect to wear the down vest around camp and when sleeping. Just curious, why do you think its a bad idea to wear the vest "over" the jacket?
You are probably right about having a hard time finding a quality used vest being for sale, but I can handle rejection:) I was always taught, "you have not because you ask not":)
Thanks
quick!

Mid wt baselayer, Thermawrap jacket, quality down vest like any of the one's you mentioned, and Precip - sounds like a 10-15 * set-up to me. Throw a wool beanie on the dome. dry warm socks on the footsies, and you are toasty!
No, Didn't say it wouldn't work. Didn't mean to imply it was a bad idea. I just don't know how it will work! Just different than my usual vest jacket set-up where the vest is under the jacket. Next yr we may see more hikers wearing the vest on the outside. When I see that, I will know who added to or started that trend! :)
Wags, got your back!

Thanks Dogwood, I appreciate the feedback. Since the MB Thermawrap jacket is so thin and light, I seem to think of it more as a fleece shirt replacement than a jacket. It is very warm for its weight but certainly not warm enough, by itself, to replace my full fledged down jacket. I understand MB was trying to keep weight down, but I wish the hand pockets had zippers to contain stuff. Hence, it would be nice to have a quality down vest with zipper pockets and worn over the Thermawrap. May-be when I loose some weight, I can wear a vest "under" the jacket:)
Also, Wags, thanks for the suggestion, but I was too SLOW:(
