*Spoke with Kincora the other day. He is looking to change his clientele. Since Laurel Fork Lodge is closed, Kincora is going to assume their customers, mainly NASCAR race fans. Kincora doesn’t think that Hikers and Race Fans will mesh very well. So, unfortunately, the hikers have to go.
Sorry if you planned to stay or use Kincora’s services. You will need to make new plans. Laurel Fork Shelter isn’t far from the trailhead and there are plenty of nice campsites in the gorge.
Recently he had some section hikers and just look what happened (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=40005)...

What would a thru-hiker have to do to disguise himself as a NASCAR fan?

Whew! I read the disclaimer.

It shouldn't be hard to find a Dale Earnhardt hat in Roan Mountain two days prior to Kincora.

I like your disclaimer! LOLOLOL
And... what's wrong with that mattock?! It looks perfectly fine ... if one is too lazy to grab a real pry bar and wants to use this mattock instead.

What would a thru-hiker have to do to disguise himself as a NASCAR fan?If you bring some Earnhardt memorabilia as Cabin Fever suggested, I think you'll be able to stay in the Tree House at no extra charge.

I thought he was saving the tree house for those NASCAR fans that drove up to Kincora from Hampton at 90 mph. At least that is why he said he gave it to me last fall. :)
I don't know diddly about racing, but I know they use numbers. I think I could get an old ratty t shirt from Goodwill and take a marker to it. Better yet, a football jersey with a number. What dya think, huh?

This is what I'm thinking. I'm going to paint a big #3 on my pack and change my trail name to The Intimidator. I was going to go with "Mr. Restrictor Plate," but I think someone else already has that name . . .

Pull most of his teeth. and grad a beer. T shirt to small helps too.

I thought the same thing.

~K2~or maybe just use some duct tape. Most everyone will have some duct tape on the trail...

It sure is a good thing that Bob doesn't monitor us here at Whiteblaze.:D

Hey! That's MY Number! Wouldn't it be suspicious if we both wore it?
BTW, Duct tape is a great Idea. Maybe I'll get some colored hunter orange.

I guess any hikers that stop by will now be sent off to work on Bob's Weekly chain gang. That actually sounds reasonable. If you hike the trail, and make the mistake of stopping into Kincora, you should be required to spend a day on the rock pile. lol.
