i was studying the online companion, and it said the white blazes on the little wolf creek section were changed to blue blazes, and the high water route, which was the blue blaze/high water route was changed to the white blaze/offical route! it says the move might be temporary, anyone know why this was changed, and if they changed it back?
the bridge at the laurel creek crossing is under construction also/still?
is the free online info last years or older? thanks

It's not the 2009 Edition, because the pages are different when I look them up by page number.

crazy how some things change, it also said they were building a blueblaze trail from the 311 catawba parking lot thru private land to Catawba VA. i just stick out my thumb and hitch the one mile. said the store was up for sale again late 2009

it must be the 2010, if its stating info from late 2009. i didn't expect the free edition (2010) to be out so early. when will the 2011 book edition come out?

i went back and looked it was 2010,i just didn't expect the free version to be out during the hiking season! kinda hard to sell books that way, wouldn'y you think. reminds me back in 99' i was talking to wingfoot in hot springs on my thruhike, and he told me, we were already yesterdays news! that the planning and focus was already on the next years hikers! and it was only april at the time.
thanks bags & max patch, for the heads up!

The current year Thru-hikers Companion is normally uploaded shortly after the "hard cover" is available in stores, generally sometime in February. The 2011 edition will be out in 2011.

For the latest updates check out the ATC site...

you think they'd sell alot more books if they held off on the online version til after summer! the online version would still be good/current in the fall/winter months, for planning nexts years hike, then buy a new book right before heading out.no wonder why everyone downloads for free, then heads out to hike! why buy the cow ,when the milk is free? can anyone answer the original question about little wolf creek

Hard copy in book form must be cheaper than printing the thing out. The online is nice for dreaming and planning but to me seems useless on the trail. Am I missing something?

The books are pretty much consistent with time, the 2011 book will be released in 2011, the 2012 in 2012, the 2013 in 2013, etc..etc..I would also be surprised if the same year version would be released the same year..Good concept....Should check it out sometime...

yeah we get it, i'm saying the free online companion comes out too early IMO, and people wont spend the money on the book and help give back to the trail and to aldha! they want free **** too often, theres nothing wrong planning with a 2009 book or 2009 online then buying a 2010 for the hike. i was surprised how early in the year the 2010 online companion comes out is all. no big freakin deal!

if you customize, copy & paste and condense a little i think the printing would be alot cheaper! alot of them probably print off at work or mom and dads house anyway?
