Apologies if this has been posted before, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a shuttle service for thruhikers in the Duncannon area. My boyfriend, who's thruhiking, and I were planning on shutting ahead along the trail from Duncannon and walking south back to town. Then he would need to again get a shuttle from town to where we was dropped off the first time to continue walking north. We would probably need to be shuttled forward about 20 miles.

We didn't see anything in the thruhiker guide and were hoping someone could help. Thanks!

You could always call TrailAngel Mary who'll be happy to help you if she's available. Reach her at (717) 834-4706. If this doesn't work, call Vicki at the Doyle Hotel (717) 834-6789 and she'll suggest someone reliable.

Mary wasn't available when I hiked last July, she was caring for a sick grandchild. I found a lutheran minister on the Doyle's bulletin board who shuttled me to Swatara Gap for $50 with only a very short notice. If you call Vicki at the Doyle she may be able to give you his #, but Mary would be my 1st choice, incredibly sweet lady.

Last summer, I got a shuttle from Duncannon to the train station in Harrisburg ($20). The guy's name is Larry, and he was on time and a good driver. They know about him at the Doyle. Here's his phone number:

Ditto. He is a reliable veteran thru-hiker.

My grandson's health issues are over for now. His kidney transplant was successful and visits to the doctor twice weekly are no longer necessary. Therefore, I am available for shuttling hikers for the 2010 season.
Thank you flemdawg for the good referene even though I couldn't do your shuttle at the last miute because of having to help my daughter by taking my grandson to his dialysis appointment.
