I'm a 23 year old woman with a non-hormonal IUD (good enough for my mom, good enough for my twin sister and me). Lots of women on IUD's seem to be paranoid about yanking them out/expelling, and I want to say that for two years I've loved the lack of hormones. The first 11 months were rough, with lots of spotting, but for 10 years of cheap & effective, I love it. Most women it doesn't even take that long.
Anyway, my sis got an IUD after me, but menstrual cup before me. The other month I found myself not utterly destitute and sick of buying gear that I couldn't show off to other hikers ;) I did a little research and got a bunch of MeLuna cups.
I bought MeLuna menstrual cups from Germany because of the range of stems, size, and color options. I ordered three, they arrived rapidly (including one free in addition.) They're cheaper than Diva cups, and I am a huge fan. I have a black small ball-stem that I wear when spotting or to keep discharge inside and not on my underwear that's proven fantastic while backpacking, emptying once each night after washing hands. I also have a medium with a ring stem that is a great size for me, and the stem makes it easy to break suction.
They're cheaper than almost any other cup, and the product has been really great. Right now they're re-working the regular and ring-stems to be more durable, so get a ball or plain stem (or wait).
I overestimated that I needed 3 cups just for myself, and gave one to my best friend and climbing partner. Can't wait to see how she likes them. Super nice to not have to worry about bringing a boat-load of menstrual supplies for myself, just-in-case (now I bring them for my students.)
Any questions?
