Hey WBers and anyone else -
2nd annual Long Distance Hiker Picnic will be at the Smith Roach Gap Parking Lot, (just south of Hightop Hut where the AT crosses the Skyline Drive) in Shenandoah NP.
Friday, May 28. 10 AM to 5 PM.
We'll be serving chili dogs, munchies, homemade desserts to hikers and give advice on what they can expect up north.
Last year we had 18 hikers. Hope to have a bunch this year!
If you can come, PM me and I'll let you know what you can bring.

Even with the weather (calling for storms), we are doing this rain or shine. Hope to set up some kind of temp. shelter in the parking lot.
My husband and I are coming up to the mountain to hike a section this weekend and would love to attend the picnic. Please let me know what we could bring to help.

Wow! No promises, but my hiking buddy and I "might" stop in for a few minutes. We're shuttling through there to our starting point at Loft Mountain Wayside probably around 10:00 AM this Friday. If we do it'll just be to say hello. We'll be the barefoot and/or VFF dudes...

Saw several eager thru hikers by Blackrock Hut this AM who want to come tomorrow. Weather looks dubious, but we'll be out there, hopefully with our screen house for some shelter and hopefully won't get the rangers mad. :)

Had a great hiker picnic, weather held off until about 2 PM and even then, under our tarp, went great. Had about 15 hikers pass through. Thanks to Sandy and her hubby, their veggie burgers and salad were a hit. :)

Just asking cause I just reserved a tent site at the campground for me and a few friends.
I'm considering the options of hammock hangin and need an education.
Figured it sounded like a good time and hopefully a good place to learn and meet new friends.
Anyone going?

Sorry, I accidently poted this under another thread instead of in a new one of it's own, I'll repost it under it's own heading, thanks,
