I've been planning a section hike beginning in Damascus 11/13 and ending in Erwin around 11/27-28. This was to be about 140 miles. I've already got a change in plans.

I need to return to Atlanta for an anniversary dinner for an organization Monday 11/15. My current plans are to drive to Miss Janet's 11/12, section from Sam's Gap to Nolichucky by Monday AM and drive back to ATL. After the dinner, I'd return toward the trail Tuesday AM.

Nice things about this is the chance to try out my Speer Peapod Hammock in the wild and cold. If I don't like it, I'll return with my old Nomad. I am just not sure about my legs and distance, and want this to be a vacation.

I'm uncertain how to go. I have considered driving to Damascus, finding a place to leave the car and walk south, shuttling back to it from wherever. Another thought is to walk north from Nolichucky and see how far I get. If I get to Kinkora later than 11/24 (a week's walk), I'd see about a shuttle back to the car and plan on a section later to enter Virginia.

I am not terribly familiar with support services and resupply between Erwin and Kinkora.

Advice anyone?

If you come to Damascus you can park at my place and I could drive you south so you could hike back to Damascus.

That sounds like a pretty reasonable idea. I hadn't considered that direction. Originally, I had planned on SOBO to Erwin for Thanksgiving.

I've already had my Kerry stickers taken off my car. Someone took them while I was in my Rotary Club meeting Wednesday. Hence, it probably is still safe to park. :jump
