"The gigantic, fur-covered killing machine attacked a dog and its hiker owner on a trail in the area. The dog was badly injured and the man hurt himself running away from the bear, the shame of his cowardice being another clever bear ploy to break down human morale."

WHA??? This is hilarious.

And now for the rest of the story:
http://www.njherald.com/story/news/bear-caught

1. Bear caught.
2. Bear killed.
3. Three cubs left to starve.
4. Dog owner was not clawed or bitten.
5. Dog owner cited for failing to leash his dog.

I hope I can return all that duct tape and plastic wrap.

Read it again. Wildlife officials said the cubs are 6 months old and capable of surviving on their own. They were not "left to starve." And attempts were made to capture them and care for them - hardly "left to starve."

Wildlife officials, lawyers, politicians, oil company executives, investment advisers all seem to have the same character flaw: THEY'RE LIARS!!!

It doesn't really matter that much, at least the good people in West Milford can now enjoy their fireworks without the fear of their bratty kids and yappy dogs being terrorized by a bloodthirsty bear.

Ok SteveM,

Next time we have an aggressive bear should we ship him over to your house?
I know you'll give it all the care and sympathy it deserves and that will put my mind at rest.

Sounds like a minor altercation veneered over a lot of primal fear.
Too bad the Jungle Habitat hadn't had the chance to teach people how to be a good citizens of the jungle.
Responsible journalism would have been more education oriented instead of playing fear to the aces at the first chance.
On the other hand, given the human population density of NJ, bears would be better off in Maine anyway.
