As I have reported before, I had my left knee operated on back just before Christmas and it has been a lengthy rehab process, getting back to just walking on level ground. Although I am going slower than before, I have been putting in more distance each month. Today, I took the step I had been looking. This has become a July 4th event for me, walking from my home to a local county park, a distance of 10 miles. When I finished, I was the usual tired and sore, probably as much from the heat as the actual walking. But after resting for a while, I feel fine and there are no problems with the knee. I will still hold off on trying the hills again (the roads traveled today have gentle ups and downs but nothing dramatic) for a few more months, but I think things will go well. :banana

That's great news, young fella! I'm sure you'll make steady progress and be banging out those hills in no time now.

I wrenched my knee while hiking at the begining of the year and it was 3 long months before I could get out and hike again. Enjoy the trails.

This wasn't an injury, but a deterioration of the meniscus. However, the doc said the result was the same, a partial tear, and the remedy also the same, arthro. Only had crutches 2 days and a cane about 10. First couple of days were interesting. Never knew going to the potty would be such an adventure!:p Thanks to all for the well-wishes.

Way to go gramps.

I've been having troubles with my left hip. Very hard to figure out what it is exactly. My personal physician, Dr. Google, suggests that it could very definitely be at about 20 different things, or not. lol. So I am off running for awhile and back to hiking while trying to work through it that way. As much as I love running, I don't want to risk losing potential hiking years.
