Has anyone tried using bamboo chopsticks as tent stakes?

Seems like it would be a simple matter to cut them down and put a notch on the side to hold the tent line.

Any obvious problems with this idea?

I have , at home in my backyard...
One set I had was of the type that is painted (for show not for use) so I gave that a go .
On really soft ground they may work for a while, however without the notch the line can and does slip off relatively easily, with it they become to weak.
I have used improvised wood pegs (stakes) in the bush , but those are a lot thicker.

The chance of it breaking before a metal stake is much higher, but the bigger problem is that it may not give any warning before it fails catastrophically.

Rather than carry bamboo chopsticks, just look around for suitable twigs.
Twigs with a Y shape work very well. Look for wood that's not touching the ground; wood on the ground is usually half decayed.
I have done this many times, works fine. No weight to carry.

Yea I always went with sticks or rocks as tent stakes. There is always and abundant supply and you don't have to carry them!
