I am leaving from Watauga Lake Tuesday 9/21 and heading to Damascus, has anyone been through this section recently that can give a good report on the water sources? Thanks

Contact Bob Peoples at Kincora or Mtn Squid for current info. But from my experience, it is usually dry during the summer time. The last report I heard was Double Springs was running ok.

I just return yesterday, 9/24 from this section hike and thought I would give a water source update. Watauga Lake shelter-dry, Vandeventer shelter-flowing good it's just a long way down to it, Iron Mtn shelter-I didn't look but 2 guys at the shelter said they had just filled up, campsite 2 miles north of TN 91-not good, Double Spring shelter-good, Low Gap/Hwy 421-good, Double Spring Gap-good, Abingdon Gap shelter-good just long way down to it and as of the several blue blazed trails in between I didn't check out-sorry. The weather eport shows good chance of rain moving in tomorrow, 9/26 so hopefully things will improve.

Iron Mtn Shelter's spring is right on trail just south of the shelter.

Iron Mtn Shelter's spring is right on trail just south of the shelter.

I seen the the sign and blue blaze and someone had wrote on the marker to go 30 yards for reliable source but that could have been done months ago.
