Wednesday my son and myself are driving to Neels and staying at the Hostel at Mountain Crossing. Meeting Dartman Thursday to be shuttled to Springer to begin our first Section hike. I have been preparing for this for almost a year and very exited to start. I do have concerns about water because if it is as dry there as it has been here in North Alabama, we could have a problem. What can anyone tell about the water sourses on this section at this time. Thanks :banana
Stover Creek, Three Forks & Justus Creek are always flowing. I'm curious myself about the water situation between Justus Creek and Neels Gap.

Remember after leaving Hawk Mtn the next 6 miles of trail have no water sources. But if you really need water at Cooper Gap continue down FS 42 (take a right at the road crossing, staying up on the ridge) for about a quarter - half 'ish mile, stream will be on your left.
Woods Hole is dry, at Slaughter Gap you'll have to follow the streambed way, way downhill to hit water.

Hawk Mtn is the second shelter from Springer (I don't have my list of landmarks / miles in front of me, you can look them up on the GATC website.) There will be lots of water between Springer and Hawk. After Hawk it's a long dry walk to Justus Creek and Cooper Gap is about the halfway point of that portion.
From Justus Creek / Gooch Mtn shelter take enough water to get to Woody Gap, the spring there is pretty reliable. From there to Neels Gap don't pass any water sources without thinking about where your next one might be.
Woods Hole and Slaughter Gap are close to each other on the south side of Blood Mtn. Neels Gap is immediately north of Blood.

a hiker today reported water scarce between shelters. Water was running at Blue Mountain on Saturday.
