I hiked from Winding Stair Gap to the Nantahala
Outdoor Center this past weekend (9/24-9/26).
Water availability was ok but noted the following
slow or dry spots.

- USFS 69 piped spring was dry

- Wine Mtn spring just north of Bartram Trail intersection
was slow but usable.

- Campsite at Bartram Trail, AT intersection on
northside of Wayah Bald was dry. The new shelter
a quarter mile north had a slow but usable stream.

- Licklog Gap was dry.

- Cold Spring Shelter source was slow but usable.

The stream(s) just south (half mile) of Burningtown Gap
had good flow.

A lot of rain fell from Saturday night into Monday so,
the dry spots might be better off now.

Thanks this was just the information I was looking for. Anyone know about section from Cold Spring shelter to Fontana. Hiking week after next from Deep Gap to Fontana Dam.

Also, I have been told there are good camping spots along Long Branch Trail at Glassmine gap. Does anyone know if there is water in this creek now? Could be tough from Carter Gap to next water source (read on other posts that there is water at Carter Gap but not at Big Spring or Rock Gap Shelters). Anyone done that section lately?
