I'm hiking with my 3 sons, daughter and brother in law 7-11 Oct from Petites Gap to Wilson Shelter. Is there anything I should be aware of like lousy shelters or
bad/dried up water supply?
Any unusual reports of vandalism to vehicles?
Thanks
John

Where are you parking? On the BRP?

As far as shelters along the way, all are decent and comfortable and some are very unique. In my experience, Bobblets Gap is often pretty busy, with limited flat areas nearby. I am reluctant to comment on water since it changes drastically through the seasons. You will cross several streams. Below are general water comments, but I hope someone will report recent experiences because of dry weather lately.

Thunder Hill Shelter water except mid-summer
Cornelius Creek Shelter several springs
Bryant Ridge Shelter should have water
Cove Mtn. Shelter NO WATER - bring enough for meals and for hiking out
Bobblets Gap Shelter should have water
Wilson Creek Shelter stream should have water

I haven't heard of any vandalism parking on the BRP or other access roads.

It should be a great time for a hike, hope you enjoy it!

I'm back. It was great. Thanks for the advice etc.
Heads up to others that I'll repost elsewhere is that the Fullhardts Knob cistern was dry am of 11 Oct.
Since it's completely dependent on rain, water up before you get to the the top.
