Synthetic bags do not last like down. I'd be wary of buying used, especially sight unseen.

Used sleeping bags are like used underwear, when ya think about it. Cept, sleeping bags are usually washed much less often.

Food for thought.

In my experience, most used sleeping bags are sold because they haven't or aren't being used and have been sitting in a closet. Many I've seen have been in very good or almost new condition. And I wouldn't compare them to underwear - they're more akin to a used sheet or blanket. To make it all better for the squeamish though, they invented this stuff called detergent a few years back. As soon as you walk out of the store with a "new" bag it's "used". And the first night you use it it's now "dirty". If you can pick up a premium quality 3 to 4 hundred dollar down bag at half price or less have at it, just launder it if needed.

MtnScout, I've got a Kelty synthetic bag that I could part with if you're interested. It's temp rated to 5 degrees, and it is a size long. It's in good shape, but I made the switch to down a few years ago, so it just sits in the closet at this point.

- an army surplus patrol bag matched up with an surplus bivy is a great 20-30 degree bag and not very expensive. i use mine in a tent. Mine fits very well in a REI 15 Liter stuff sack.

I realize that you're looking for a bag in the 20-30 degree range but I have a very nice Mountain Hardwear Crazy Legs 5 degree bag. It had Polar Guard High Void insulation and is the long version. It is several years old and has been used but it's clean and in excellent condition. I think I paid $140.00 for it when I bought it and would part with it for $90.00. The closest thing that Mountain Hardwear makes to that now I thing sells for around 200 bucks I think. The only reason I would sell this bag is I want to replace it with a Mountain Hardwear Banshee 800 fill power goose down bag for the lighter weight and compressibility. I have used this bag at 0 degrees and slept toasty warm in it and I have used in the 20's and low 30's. In the high 20's and 30's I just didn't zip it quite all the way or use the hood. It worked fine. And it makes a decent mattress if you find yourself not needing a bag at all in an unusually warm night. I live in western North Carolina so you, being in Georgia wouldn't have a very long drive to check it out. Feel free to send me an email if interested. I have that option open. 9btw I guess you can see that I'm sold on Mountain Hardwear. If it doesn't say Mountain Hardwear or Gregory on it you won't find it in the woods with me. (No, I don't work for or own stock in Mountain Hardwear or Gregory...LOL..)

No worries, BTW It comes with a cotton sack for storage and a stuff sack. Always stored loose and when I did sleep in it I always wore a silk top and silk long johns.
