I have a "71 that's more rust than metal at this point but it still runs great. But I'm not interested in selling it
For all things VW check out www.thesamba.com (http://www.thesamba.com) Once you're there click on classifieds and then either use the search function or browse to your heart's content.

ever since i took my daughter to the Haight-Ashbury district she wants a VW bus and painted in Peter Max style. they are hard to find. found 2 in backyards, but they won't give them up. good luck.
I seriously considered buying this VW. The guy who made the movie put it on Craigslist.

Air cooled!
I could use a 12 window bus.
I used to have a '78 VW bus. I loved it. So much fun to drive. The engine blew up and I had no money to fix it. I gave it to my mechanic who had let me cheat on my smog certificate over the years. I was so bummed to lose it. I really wish I had it now. I would outfit it to live in it and blow this boring middle class life.
What are you going to do with your van?
Dude.. too bad you don't live out here in the San Franciso Bay area.. Or maybe thats a good thing since the economy sucks here..
Anyways VW busses are all over the place here.
Check Craigslist for SFO. There are dozens of them around here.
More of the older, 70's models in the Santa Cruz area. The Westfalia types
can be found here in the south bay area.
Seriously .. just like a Salmon going up river.. The Hippies come here to die bringing their vehicles with them!
With jobs non-existant and rents as high as ever I might be joining you in the "Nomadic" lifestyle.. Anything to not pay 1,200 bucks a month for a one bedroom apt.

Check Ebay, I think I saw about thirty on there a few days ago under the vintage cars page.
I can say that our '79 2.0l FI westy does great here in Colorado. My 73 dual carbs are smoother than the '79. I have restored the mechanial systems in many buses. I have a 1.8L toyota in my '72 westy.
These are great, but check out the forums to learn what will need replacing right off of bat. Best of luck in your search.

John
