Hi Everyone!

Is anyone planning a Thru hike this April? I am in my forties. I am in college and I love nature. I know I sound boring, but really I'm not. This is the real me:banana... Okay, maybe not quite, but close-not even close, but trust me I'm fun! My expected pace is slow because I want to be able to take in every little scenery and hold it for a moment-okay, I know I can take pictures, but, but...I'm lost for words. :-? Anyway, If you are planning a Thru Hike In April please let me know, I would be thrilled to hike with
you!:jump And that's the truth!

Sincerely - Rolling Thunder

I'm starting first week of April also, you'll see lots of hikers on the trail at that time, so no worries about meeting others to hike with, the trail will very likely be very busy then.

My last decision is whether to go without a stove, or bring the Litemax. Still thinking on that one.

good luck!

I'm a 28 yo female thru hiker in planning, and I am starting hopefully April 14th. My plan is to go as far as I can each day, but not overdo it till I'm more in hiker form (which may take a while!), then kill the miles when i get to Virginia. I love scenery too, but I do have to try to make it to Katahdin by October 6th (as I have to be in Alberta, Canada Oct 8th for a wedding) so I am on a deadline of sorts, though if I don't make it by then, I will finish another time.

PS: Rolling Thunder, I sent you a PM before I found this thread...:)

I'm not thruing but sectioning my way down the trail. Wish you well and when you come thru VA, Pearisburg, be sure to stop at The Captain's Hiker Feed. I'll be there helping out and enjoying the hiker fun.

I'm planning to start on the 14th of April as well from Springer, not doing the approach trail. Hope we can meet up.

Oh, I'm female.

Hi,
Hope to meet you on the trail somewhere. I will be ahead of you but you might catch up or I may see you at some point cause I am going to flip flop when I get to NY or Ct, go to Khatadan and finish SOBO. That was I will do Maine and NH in July and early August not in fall. I'd rather keep the cold climate stuff in the southern end of the trail and enjoy fall in New England rather than rushing to stay warm.

Hi MisterChris!

You are an avid hiker/climber in excellent shape? Then you do not want to walk with me!:D I havent hiked since I was 27 years old - I am 44 and my expected pace is slow, slow, slow. But I must admit, I wish I could keep up with you. I hope you have the time of your life!:banana

I am doing the approach trail on 3/25 and hiking for 5 days. I was hoping to get to do my thru hike this year but will have to wait until 2012.

I did a section hike in PA last October 5 days from Boiling Springs and there were a few SOBO hikers that passed through. Just be aware of your surroundings and I had no problem hiking solo and still met up with peeps along the way.

Hey!!! I am NOBO in late April and am looking for someone to do the hike with me and my pup. I do have some friends meeting up with me along the trail, but no one to start it off with. I would be interested in talking and see if our plans match up and we could both have a hiking/motivating (for me) buddy.

My girlfriend and I are starting on April 14th, probably not doing the approach trail. She's hiking with me for the first three weeks and then I'm goin' solo!

I'm 31 and starting on April 11th. If you start before me, we might run into each other! If later, well, maybe i'll take too many zeros or something. See you on the trail, perhaps!

I too will be starting out the first part of April. Talk about slow, I am 69, in very poor shape and have had a triple bypass, both knees, elbows, wrists operated on and my back twice. Also, the old arthritis is very prominent. I hope to start out slow and gradually increase my miles. Should be very interesting but something I have wanted to do since about 1995. Hope to see you out there but slow down a little when you pass me, ok?
