I've finally decided - I'm having my brows and eyeliner done. I've been on the fence for about a year, just too chicken to do it, but I have a consultation appoinment next week. If I decide at that time to move forward, I can have the proceedure done that day.
Anyone else have this done? Your thoughts???

first of all i am a guy so take what i say for what it is I just saw this on the new threads page. first of all I have had several friends and those i have worked with who have done this procedure. out of about seven or eight only one of them is still happy with it four or five years later. the original idea is great but eventually they wanted somthing different or even the choice for something different either because times have changed or their taste have changed. Just give it some thought, one of them was in a staige where she loved blue eye liner and that was great in college but when she went into the profesional work force she really wish she had done somthing different.
thats all i am saying, just like some one getting a tattooe just make sure it is something you really think thrue.
well any ways good luck with your choice

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I'm not talking blue liner here, this is simply shading in my brows, and enhancing the lashline. I haven't been a 'makeup' girl for many years now, but the brows and liner are not really an option imho.
I know what you mean about 4 or 5 years down the line though. It's one of the questions I have for the consult, but it's my understanding that permanent isn't as 'permanent' as we'd like. In other words, the procedure fades with time, and many people end up with future 'touch-ups'. That's a big question I have. Wondering if anyone else has had that experience.

This isn't a requirement for the AT is it?

I'm going to be honest, and please dont get me wrong because I have lots of tattoos and I'm about to get another one. Tattooed eyebrows look HORRIBLE. They look fake to begin with AND make the person who has them look trashy. People are just gonna assume you cant color them in correctly. And on top of it, one day your hair color is going to change and then you are just going to look like a senile old woman who cant do her make up and her children are too self absorbed to help her out. Have you ever seen someone whose eyebrows have been tattooed badly? Talk about a total freak out and I have $20 that says wherever you are going you picked them out of the yellow pages. If you gotta do your eyeliner fine, I hope they dont mess up. But if you have your eyebrows done you have the potentially to have a VERY costly mistake on your face that everyone will giggle about. Its your call.

I hear 'ya - and I DO appreciate an honest opinion!!! There's a woman in her 70's around here that I see every once in a while - yes, she looks like a freak, but I'm pretty sure she looked like a freak when she was applying her own makeup. You know -as with all tats - you get what you pay for.
I know, like I said, I've been weighing the pros and cons for about a year now. I honestly wouldn't go to someone who's work I didn't feel 100% confident in - that was a big factor in finally feeling ok about the decision. http://www.lynnduncanpermanentcosmetics.com/gallery-combo.shtml (I think the powder-filled brows and liner look great)
My consult is Thurs., if I'm getting a bad vibe it's a no go.
If nothing else, I'll have a new trail name...:o

Funny how the men are reporting in... as I am... a girlfriend had her eyeliner and lips done...first off ... make sure you have a few days to do nothing after you have it done...your eyes WILL be very swollen...she elected to not do her eyebrows just for the above stated reason...she's a Full Service Hair Salon owner...tanning booths, nails, etc...she was and still is happy with it, as well as the liberation from the mirror time.....she's very active and very attractive... I personally wasn't to sure about it... but ..after the fact ... I like it..her eyes always look great..all day at the beach, riding, gym,...I suggest finding a competent artist ... go with a choice that's very subtle...you can always add more if you want...tuff to take it off...stay away from the eyebrows...and as I said...be prepared for for a few days of discomfort...as well as a few weeks before they look correct...just like any tattoo... HYOH

Well I honestly don't think any woman on this forum is trying to attract YOU. So don't worry about it.

I've seen your picture and I say DO NOT do it. The world changes and so will you, but not if you do this.
You look good like you are. Don't screw it up. Of course, you would always have the option of wearing a bag over your head when necessary.

I've seen some good results, tbh - not in person, but photographs of minimal upper eyeliner and eyebrows as well.
I wear makeup almost every single day to some degree and though I'm not much of a girly girl I do love the feeling of dressing up for occasions and enhancing my attributes.
That being said - this is something that I would never do.
First of all, my husbad and I are so poor that our family always tells us to get on welfare. No thanks - and they wonder why we're happy as pigs in ***** while they're on antidepressants and fighting and just generally unhappy, yet they live the 'traditional American' way of consumerism up the wazoo. We save our money for the essentials and it's not as daunting as it seems at first. So for us, $$ for something that didn't help our survival would be . . . . well, kind of silly.
Beyond the $$ factor - well, this body just enables my spirit to get around here on Earth - I'm only in it for a few decades then I'm off to something bigger and better. I keep myself healthy, I like to dress up for my husband, but he's attracted to my soul (though my looks don't hinder that :D) and knowing that makes everything else just seem rather superficial.
But if we say "HYOH!" then indeed "LYOL!"

That explains that woman's wierd looking eyebrows! I had no idea this even existed. I couldn't figure out what was going on with this woman I see at the gym sometimes. She had her eyebrows done. Not well, unfortunately. I don't think she has any real eyebrow (which would be sad). But it doesn't look flattering. Some of those pictures on the site looked good. Some, not so good. Good luck on your decision and I hope you like the result if you get it done. You will ahve to let us know! And post pics. Before and after. If you do it.

A lot of the women who get them tattooed on shaves off their real ones. My mom threatened to do it once and I told her if she did I wouldnt change her diaper when she got old.

...lol...no shaving of the eyebrows for me.
There are for sure some train-wrecks out there. I really appreciate everyones imput. You're sort of putting me back on the fence (drats! :() I've had this woman checked out pretty thoroughly, but I always trust my gut, so if I get in there and hear a little voice screaming to get out, I'll high-tail it out of there.
I promise to post B/A pics, but incase thinks go very south you might all want to be thinking up some funky new trail name for me! :-?

At least check them out with the BBB to see how many complaints have been filed against them. I still urge you not to do, but I cant make you!

Man, ink on your face, never to be removed .......
Women look so much better without make up. drives me crazy when you all put that crap on your face.
But to put it on and not remove it ..... personal opinion ..... don't do it.
But If its really what you want and you like, go for it. Won't make me think differently of you but ........ I really think ladies look better with out make up then with it.

With that logic, one could have the Data Book tattoed on their chest upside down.
This has always sounded like a bad idea to me. Fads come and go. Please don't be a fad. You won't look better, just dated. You will never have the option to go with the flow reguarding fashion.
That 60yr old barfly with the big black hair in everyone's town can still get a makeover but you will be stuck. The consultant really doesn't care about any more than the cash you will give her. The reason you've been on the fence for a whole year could be that your gut instinct is saying no. I bet you are lovely the way you are.

My best friend had her eyeliner done a few years ago and LOVES it! I'm getting mine done this year. She says it's so nice not worrying about it at the beach or working out and makes her feel beautiful! You must find someone who knows what they're doing and subtle is always better (dark brown or black). If you want to do it, and have been wanting to do it, go for it and don't worry about what other people think. It's your face.

I just read through that entire thread...I'm not big on tattoos, and tend to shy away from anything that leaves permanent ink or scarring on my body (although my ears are pierced)...anyhow, I'm just curious if you went through it or not? we need an update!

For what it's worth: This whole artificially-enhanced eyebrow thing is nothing new. It is, however, possible to overdo it:

Yes! Had it done back in early March before hitting the trail - have not regretted it one bit.
It's been great now having to think about make-up, being sweaty, wiping at my eyes and not worry about liner or brow pencil rolling down my face.
BTW, the trail is going well, just leaving Bland, VA today heading toward Pearisburg. It could stop raining any day though...

I must echo some of the male thoughts on this thread. I am a male and really never did understand the need for a woman to put make up on at all. I can understand the pressure and am accepting of a very modest amount of eye-liner and a tad of mascara but prefer a "Natural Woman" Any man worth his salt will look at a lady with his eyes and mind open. He will look deeper into you and accept how beautiful you really are, not what you are made up to be and will be looking away if you over-do it.
It must be a woman thing that pressures women to be competitive for fake beauty in the eyes of other women. Make up, unless for hiding a serious flaw or some accident damage, is not necessary except for the benefit of how you feel about your image to others, especially on the trail. I, like many men, really would prefer to see the real person and not some made-up entity that is not confident in herself and worried about how she looks with makeup. If you are secure in yourself, you are beautiful no matter what anyone else says...Please, don't do the permanent thing and listen to the others who posted that you will probably regret it down the road.
Besides, it is the A/T for God's sake, not the Prom....Don't worry about that stuff. No one will even give your lack of putting on your face a second thought.....except another woman also not confident in herself maybe. Just my personal thought.
All the best

Actually that's not true at all. If it were we'd all be happy consumers.
While you don't always get what you pay for, you do always pay for what you get.

My Aunt had the eyebrows done, but the poor woman didn't HAVE eyebrows. She drew them in, so fake is fake. At least now she won't have to worry about a squiggly line when she gets old and shakey :)
