ps: latest news update from the ALDHA Co-ordinator, Mike Wingeart, aka "Wing Heart" ~ he is making sure that a special ALDHA info/registration table will be set up at the hiker reception and then moved by Jester down to the encampment to be operated there from 1pm until 5pm. This year's ALDHA hiker reception will be especially important because 1.) this is the 25th. anniversary of the Damascus Trail Days Festival and 2.) the A. T. C. Biennial will be over at Emory and Henry College (about 15 miles from Damascus) on July 2,3,&4 (main days ~ but see www.appalachiantrail.org (http://www.appalachiantrail.org) for more info). ~RW

I am sorry to have to annouce that I will probably be unable to attend Trail Days 2011 in Damascus because of temporary medical issues.
I am a 2X liver transplant receipient and as such, I have had this same problem come up five times before ~always have been able to
get past it after a medical procedure called a PCT. However, at the present I do not think it is wise for me to go too far from my known
doctors or to stay away too long. Therfore, I will not be the ALDHA Hiker Reception Co-ordinator at the 2011 Trail Days Festival. However,
I do still plan to make it to the A. T. Museum Trail Festival June 17-19 at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Pennsylvania.
Mike(the ALDHA Co-ordinator) and I have been in contact in regard to the ALDHA Hiker Reception. He has named Mary Parry "Trailangelmary"
as the ALDHA Hiker Reception Co-ordinator. I am in contact with her and other volunteers; they know that I am trying to give all the help
from a distance that I can and remain available to answer any questions that I might. If I improve, I may make it to Trail Days 2011 after all
and will help as a volunteer.
With the help of volunteers, ALDHA will have another successful and fun Hiker Reception at the 2011 Trail Days Festival.
HAPPT TRAILS !
Robert "Red Wolf o'da Smoky's" Croyle
ps: To all volunteers of work, cash, or food refeshments,
Trailangelmary's contact is: trailangelmary@aol.com (trailangelmary@aol.com)
Already many have stepped up to give her a hand ~ I'm
sure she appreciates any and all volunteers. ~Red Wolf

I've only been to one Trail Days and figured that was enough. However, due to scheduling of a section hike this year, we're going to swing by for Saturday. Am looking forward to the ALDHA reception, as I renewed my membership (didn't even know it had expired).
Sorry to hear about your health concerns, Red Wolf. Take care!

Red Wolf, let us know what we can do locally to help with this. I know you're in touch with Tuesday so let her know what is needed and we'll follow up to make sure this event happens.

Thankyou for all you do as a main hiker/community liasion there in Damascus.

Red Wolf, let us know what we can do locally to help with this. I know you're in touch with Tuesday so let her know what is needed and we'll follow up to make sure this event happens.
Local,
Many thaks for you offer of help. Mary Parry "Trailangelmary" of Duncannon, PA and the Hiker Reception Food Manager the last two years, has been named by Mike Wingeart "Wing-Heart", Aldha Co-ordinator(President), as the ALDHA Hiker Reception Co-ordinator. I remain as a consultant and may or may not actually get to Trail Days (although recent labs show much better results !).
I have already introduced Mike to Tuesday Pope via a joint email. Since he is ALDHA Co-ordinator, I have asked him to introduce Mary to Tuesday so everything will be "official" in all respects. I'm sure Trailangelmary appreciates any and all help ~her email is: trailangelmary@aol.com I will email her with a copy of your whiteblaze note today and, perhaps, you two will get into contact also.
Again, many thanks for all you do for our hiker community, for Trail Days, and for both ALDHA (Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association) and the Appalachian Trail Museum.

I have contacted Tuesday Pope through email about ALDHA Reception details. We will be able to store non-refrigeated items at the Rock School on Thursday.
I have pm'd Local asking for help with the things that need done before I arrive in Damascus.
I am in touch with all members of the committee for the event.
I will be sending a blast to some of my facebook friends asking for help with the many duties involved to be done on Thursday and Friday.
Exciting things to happen at the event: Terry Harley Wilson will be displaying the AT Museum traveling exhibit "Hiker Culture" at the ALDHA reception and Pilgrim will be selling the NEW ALDHA items at the event. The NEW ALDHA display will be at the event to promote membership to ALDHA. And of course food for the hikers! Donations will be greatly appreciated. A google spreadsheet will be up this weekend for you to enter what you will donate and deliver to the Rock School.
Are you a current ALDHA member? Join today.

Sad you are having thses bumps in the road, Red Wolf, but look what they got you. You've been promoted to being the consultant to whom all take their questions. It'll be especially nice if you are able to come and see how well they can pull this off under your super leadership. Be well.--Kinnickinic

Mary, I'm not even sure what that means. Is that something only done at night? E-mail me at damascusvirginia @ gmail.com to make sure I get your message (remove the spaces). Or call Tuesday and she can find me. We'll be glad to help.

Kinnickinic, please make no mistake, Trailangelmary is THE ALDHA Hiker Reception Co-ordinator and I only try to advise her as best I can. She is where the "hiker reception" buck stops, so to speak, except that she does answer to the ALDHA Co-ordinator Mike Wingeart "Wing-Heart" . They will do another successful and, more importantly, FUN Hiker Reception (# 5 !). As the Hiker Reception Co-ordinator, all questions should be directed to Trailangelmary for her answers and decisions, please.
Thankyou for your personal kind words to me. YES, I'd love to be able to get to Trail Days after all ~I'll just have to see how my medical issues procede, hopefully "temporary medical issues" which get more under control. I did have recent labs with a better than expected report .
HAPPY TRAILS, my friend,

I wanted to pass along this recent developing piece of news from Trailangelmary for all who wish to donate to the ALDHA Hiker Reception at Trail Days 2011 :
"Red Wolf - Since you are posting information about the Reception schedule, I thought you should know I have it okayed with Tuesday for her to open the Rock School on Thursday for us to store those items that do not need refrigeration. My hope is that we will be gathering everything on Thursday afternoon. I have volunteers to help me with that. If anyone contacts you to commit to a donation that is not cash please direct them to the google spreadsheet and ask if they will be able to deliver to the Rock School on Thursday. "

:sun Trailangelmary and I had breakfast this morning at Cowboy's and "BARN - STORMED" over this Friday's ALDHA Hiker Reception. All is "ON-TRACK' for a REAL FUN event for the larger hiker community. The food, the drink, the musical entertainment, the slide shows, the display and info tables (ALDHA and the Appalachian Trail Museum), the location in the mountains of SW Virginia will be all only surpassed by the extreme high level hiker camaraderie which will be there in the ALDHA Hiker Reception, this Friday,11am-12noon, at the Rock School Auditorium in Damascus, Virginia !
