Not a bad total at all. I don't see a food bag, a camera, tooth brush, tooth paste, hand cleaner or soap, map, compass, or sleeping pad.

Nice list, looks well thought out. I second SGT Rock's remarks, except I'd ditch the camp towel and keep two bandanas. I like to carry one that is "clean", i.e. it can be used around food (wiping out pots, etc). The other gets used on my body (blowing nose, sponge bath, etc).

What about tent stakes? What's the cotton for in personal supplies? Cotton is not the best thing to use around wounds, gets too many little fibers in it.

Many of those names are not clear WRT what they are referring to. Could you put common names by the items in your list?

My only suggestion would be to add an umbrella. I only carry w/b coat & rain pants when heading for extended distances above treeline or otherwise exposed areas. 'Course an umbrella is tough to use if you use two trekking poles, but I'm a dedicated one-sticker. IMHO, walking with a 'brolly is a most pleasurable way to spend a day in the rain.

good for you, great list, way to keep the weight down and think in terms of oz. and not lbs.

Thanks yall, I appreciate the advice on the gear list-I'll probably add another bandana as per kncat's suggestion-I'll probably keep my whole pactowel, with half to be ready to be cut in the event of a serious tp emergency-I'll consider an umbrella if there in one on the market lighter than one of my Lekis (any suggestions, Deadeye?)-I switched from the squall 1 to a Virga 2, which should weigh about the same with tent stakes, etc-

Thanks again!
