So after much consideration, I decided to purchase the Hennessy Scout Zip. Because the Hennessy website has been out of stock, I purchased it from another online retailer.

All the specs I've seen online list the scout as being rated to 200lbs, and I felt comfortable being well under this rating. I got the hammock today, however, and both the paper tag and printed instructions on the stuffsack say the max weight is 180lbs. Luckily I'm also under the 180lb mark, but I could see some 185lb customers being very surprised/irritated by the discrepancy.

So which rating is correct? Will it void my warranty if I let a 190lb friend try out my hammock?

Of course now I'm stuck waiting for some warmer weather, so I don't have to climb through a snow bank to set it up.

i contacted them with a similar issue and was told that the scout was rated on the tag at 185 but they could not tell me the limitations due to liablities. they did however say that most all hammocks they make have been known to hold 35% more than advertised weight

Their website is showing it as 200 lbs. I wonder why the inconsistency.

Changes in warning labels = Lawsuit

Something tells me that a 190lb guy had a fall and called his lawyer :-?
