Stayed there in May 2003 and the shelter was real nice and comfy on a cold rainy night. Only complaint is the water is a looong way down, but you can't do much about that ;)

The B and B up the trail a couple miles is extremely hiker friendly, though a lot of people probably don't stop there and assume otherwise. They let me use their phone and gave me a free cup of coffee and allowed me to sit out the rain. My folks came down that day to visit and we ended up staying the night since they were so nice. AT TOPO maps all over their walls as designs. I recommend it

When I lived in Easton, I used to trek up to the Leroy Smith or the Kirkridge Shelter with cold sodas and snickers bars a few evenings a week in June-July and hang out for an hour or so. I found some folks really liked that.

Visited Sun 19 Nov 2006 while participating in AHC-BMECC hike. Sleeps 8 easily:), 10 who like one another;). Composting privy:cool:. Spring flowing. Everything in exceptionally good condition. Hope it long remains that way.:sun
