I haven't put up any trip reports for a while as the hiking I've been doing is taking place a few thousand miles from the AT. But, for those of you interested I have put up a couple of new trip reports on my web page. A late summer trek on the Northern Loop trail in Mount Rainier, a snowshoe trip to the same park over New Year's Eve and this weekend's snow shoe trip into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. See

and follow the Local Trips link. The Northern Loop (down near the bottom) and the top two trips are these new report. In a week or so, I should have a substantial part of last summer's AT trek written up and online.

Well if you get the itching to go with others to enjoy the outdoors, the Mountaineers is a big organization with local chapters in your area. Seems they get out quite often to all parts though it does look like you prefer to go alone. http://www.tacomamountaineers.org/ Independent of this Mounties suggestion, maybe take an avalanche safety course.

This thread probably belongs in some off-topic forum, doesn't it?

Don't mean to complain, but WB has too much AT stuff for me to keep up with as it is. I just don't come here for Mt Ranier hikes.

Nevertheless... have a great time, Chris!

Follow the link to see why it is here and not there. I didn't put in text because of the very non-AT nature of the reports, but thought some people might like the short reports.
