LOL! reminds me of some entries in shelter logs. but maybe belongs in the humor section?? anyway, you of all people should know that eating your dog is a bad idea, at least it is if you eat the liver, which is very high in vitamin A, and you can get serious vitamin A toxicity. this is thought to be what doomed Amundson et al (ok, there were other factors too) on their failed trek to the south pole, where they tried to survive by eating their sled dogs, but didn't know the liver was dangerous. so there!

It's been done plenty on polar expeditions. My dog's too skinny. Also too cute.

Amundson was successful. Scott and crew died from ignorance and bad luck.

Maybe a way to get rid of dogs on the trail? Just steal all their food so they'll have to.

I was so hungry I began eying my beloved puppy and visualizing steaks, chops and ribs. Fortunately, at the next road crossing, trail angels were cooking hamburgers and passing out sodas. Pure trail magic saved my dog! :D

Source: Yong-Geun Ann (1999)[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-0)
Dog meat refers to edible parts and the flesh derived from (predominantly domestic) dogs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogs). Human consumption of dog meat has been recorded in many parts of the world, including China, ancient Mexico, and ancient Rome.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-schwabe1979p168-1) According to contemporary reports, dog meat is consumed in a variety of countries such as China,[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-Wingfield-Hayes-2) Vietnam,[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-BBCNews2001-3) the Philippines,[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-PDI2006-01-07-4) and Korea.[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-Podberscek2009-5) In addition, dog meat has also been used as survival food in times of war and/or other hardships.[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-Times1940-6)[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-Mawson-7)
In contemporary times, some cultures view the consumption of dog meat to be a part of their traditional cuisine, while others consider consumption of dog to be inappropriate and offensive. Opponents of restrictions on dog meat consumption argue the distinction between livestock and pets is subjective. They also argue consuming dog meat is no different from consuming slaughtered pigs, chicken and cattle in other countries, such as the United States.[9] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-8)[10] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-9)[11] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-10) Eating dog is forbidden under Muslim (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_dietary_laws) and Jewish dietary laws (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashrut).[12] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat#cite_note-11)

Police intervention prevented the planned evisceration.

I met a hiker who was at the National Outdoor Retail show...looking for sponsers for his planned hike.
He wanted to hike the Artic Circle/ Yukon boundary.
With only one dog.

He named Supper..

"just in case"

Never heard from or about him again...maybe Supper Won?

how are they going to catch you? do game wardens of ridge runners enforce? is the penalty worse than starving? I understand the Catholic church said cannibalism is ok under extreme situations, so is it better to eat a dead hiker first, instead of a dog? what if you have to dig him/her up first?
