Funny! Here is a true story. About 5 years ago, I travelled to a peice of property that we own in McGrady, NC. My wife came up a few days later with our 2 young boys and after a couple of days, she left with them for Georgia to visit relatives. I then returned to our home on the NC coast. When I got home, I discovered that the downstairs comode was stopped up. I thought " now what #$*%$$#& toy had those kids tried to flush this time?"
When I used a heavy duty snake, the obstruction just turned the snake back at me so I decided to remove the commode from the floor. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the obstruction was a dead and drowned squirrel that was trying to escape out plumbing via the toilet.
My initial thought was "damn, I've got a break under the house where that squirrel got in" but soon realized that it had entered via a vent tube in the roof.
We declared war on those squirrels after that as they were causing other problems. they were eating my truck, kayaks, a windsurfer and other things that evidently had a chemical is some linear polyethelene that appealed to them.
We baited them on a stump out the back door and a 1000'/second pellet rifle dispatched about 300 of them within the next year or so. Sometimes my boys (about 8 and 11 years old at the time) would shoot one or two before going to school. My neighbor also eliminated about 100 of the critters, some with his bow and arrow.
Now if this sounds unpleasant to some, let me say that I like squirrels. I enjoy watching them and yes, they are hard to clean but good to eat. If you were to visit my house right now, chances are that you'd see half a dozen or more in my front yard. Our efforts have not put a noticeable dent in their population.
