Dehydrated water.
Think about it: you take a bit of dehydrated water and add some water, and you have a bunch of water. It would be great for ultralight hiking.
thought of it already along with dehydrated beer..... if only :/

I've heard of this before. It was being marketed as "dry ice", so I'm guessing it's some sort of solid, maybe tablets.
I've been using dehydrated water for years. I always have some in my water bottles and dromedary bag.

This is actually feasible technically speaking. Dehydrated water is H2 and O2, both of which are super light weight, in fact the H2 will make your pack weight less by carrying it. To rehydrate all you need is to mix the two and add a spark. The problem is that every time you want to drink you will have a little Hindenburg explosion that will probably destroy the containers and other gear, fingers or other nearby items. Still might be worth it for the weight savings.

by surgicaly sewing a suit of water impermeable "skin" on to ourselvs, and utilizing recycleing, we would be water independent for long periods of time. allowing intersteller travel with no need to pack normal amounts of water.when the bodys were recovered from crashed spacecraft from other worlds, some reported the occupants seamingly haveing skin of a manufactured fabric.
when they take me, and i mean the good guys, our fed, please insure max my son gets all my stuff.

Little bit of a problem there... remember the old question, which is heavier, a pound of feathers or a pound of lead?
You still need 8 pounds (combined weight) of H2+O2 to make a gallon of water.
Now if you carry the H2 in a ballon to lighten your load and can combine it with the oxygen already in the air, then you might have something.

I used to buy dehydrated water inthe single serving packets, but they leaked on one of my trips, so now I keep an emergency supply in a used Tang container.
