Screw you Matty. I'm not hugging you. Only kidding. I'll give you a hug Matty. This is the kind of outlandish stuff you come up with that I love!

I saw a video of a guy that went out to public areas to offer a hug to folks. It wasn't a goof. He thought folks might appreciate a hug. He thought close human contact in the form of a decent hug would be good for everyone. Some folks were very freaked out, skeptical, and fearful by somone offering a hug to another unknown person. Some folks would not let the guy hug them! I think his attempts told volumes of our society and culture. I think it told volumes of someone trying to positively influence society by living out: 'Be the change you wish to see in the world' - Gandhi, which to me means, if you want to change the world begin by changing yourself and then pass it on!

There was a thruhiker in the late 1990s or early 2000s who went by the trail name of "The Hugger". I met him in the White Mts. while on a weekend hike and yes, I did hug him. He smelled like a thruhiker ;).

Fascinating wiki on hugs HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hug). According to the article dogs don't care as much for hugs as humans since they interpret the "limb over" gesture as the dominance signal.

Hmmmm...............

More hug trivia- they last 3 seconds (http://blogs.wsj.com/ideas-market/2011/02/01/how-long-should-a-hug-last/)on average.

I could use a hug right now. It's super hot and the the weather is about to get nasty at any minute. So much for a hike.
