Virginia sells hard liquor only in state run ABC stores. These stores are closed on Sundays. However, most convenience stores, grocery stores and pharmacies carry beer and wine. You can buy beer and wine 7 days a week in Virginia. There are no alcohol deliveries. Most places will card you even if you look 40. Most resturants serve beer.

Waynesboro Virginia

The cheapest place to buy beer near the AT in Waynesboro is Krogers. They have a wide selection of domestic beers and quite a few imports to choose from, all nicely chilled. Kroger also sells cheap styrofoam coolers, bags of ice and just about anything else you can dream up.

I only mentioned the cooler in case there was a group of folks at a motel for a day or two taking an injury break or something. Just saying Kroger sells a wide variety of stuff for on and off trail.
