I posted this over at Hammock Forums but I thought I would cross post it here.

I'm doing the Georgia section in a few weeks starting at Amicalola. It is about a 6 hour drive for me. Thinking of driving down the night before we start and staying at the park. Anyone ever stayed there before? Is the campground Hammock friendly? I will be arriving late and will need to coordinate with a shuttle in the morning but I thought I could get an earlier start this way. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

The campground is not too hammock friendly. It's designed for RVs for the most part. If you have a way to attach your hammock to your vehicle, you may be able to string the hammock from the fence that is generally part of sites to your roof rack or whatever. Another option is to hike a short way out of the park on the approach trail. You'll be in the Chattahoochee NF and in hammock-friendly territory.

Just go up the approach trail a bit and hang where you like.
