I believe I have figured out the cause of my posting funk............I need to get out. 1 wet overnite in January, since Thanksgiving, did not hold me over. I have 1 more weekend of hockey.......I have to get out.

I signed up for a 5.5 mile hike with a local group. It is on the erie canal towpath trail and they have rated the hike strenuous.
Not sure how a flat tow path can be that hard. They are hiking along the tuscawarus (sp) river so it should be interesting anyway.

I'm not sure if they still make it, but in Montana you could get smoked trout in little cans. it was ok, nothing to 'Stock up and bring home.

Yea I get it - REI brings in these Salmon in a wood box at Christmas but wants $30 for it... real treat....

About to go myself...quick, what are you making for him?

A custom color 20" x 30" 8 generation ahnentafel style pedigree wall chart saved in jpg format then printed on card stock and framed. It starts with my father at the center and doubles every generation as you go backward in time. There 128 names around outer band. The idea is not new, but this is completely my own creation. I am building it in Paint Shop Pro. A whole lot of research, typing, and rotating of text to fill the fields.

A ranger at Amicalola said he had to pluck a dozen or so off the mountains last night. Some calls for hypothermia.

We have reservations for one more night at the Lodge. I was going to drive to FS 42 and hike back to the Lodge today. Ranger said , "do not try it " as he spun out w his 4WD.

So, I'm taking a zero day BEFORE my start. Lol

HAHAH THATS AWESOME...HAHAHHAHA...I am always telling my wife I need to shorten the chain on the stove because she can reach in to the den and complain about someting..... She dont like that very well either... i have come to the conclusion.. Men can have it two ways..but not both... You can be happy , or you cam be right... BUT not both .. hahahha

HM are they actually stopping people from starting?

I don't think so but they may be encouraging them to wait a day or so for the temps to warm back up..... I think the ranger was telling Chin not to drive up the FS road. The roads must be really bad. I think the trail is icy in spots 2. You should be fine a lot can change in 18 days.

TW, I tried to PM this to you, but can't figure out how. I have seen you edit media, so this might be up your alley. Here is the fan chart template that I created. You would need the data and a program that allows you to enter rotated text. Your name and dates go in center. Your father's is the wedge to the centers left, mother to right, etc. Coat of arms can be placed in corners. Husband and children can be put under fan. I use Merced 20 bold font for the data.

My dad passed when I was only 7 yrs old, now my mom is gone, and the family has a huge collection of photos and memorabilia to go through. We don't know who half the people in the photos are :(

I wish I had been more diligent in researching my family background. My dad passed when I was only 7 yrs old, now my mom is gone, and the family has a huge collection of photos and memorabilia to go through. We don't know who half the people in the photos are :(

What is the easiest way to resize a image file down to suitable size for an avatar? I use a Mac these days, one of the few downsides is that the I haven't yet found an easy to use program like Paintbrush for this sort of thing.

I have thought about using this one before.

Tough call Google's free photo editor didn't have the tool to do it, several years ago. Check there first .. don't know if it has been fixed. I use Photoshop Elements 11 Tutorials on video after purchase.

You wouldn't believe how many ppl are on WB & on hiking FB pages. Then again, you would be shocked at how many hikers that are active on FB that don't come over here, or at least I don't know who they are over here... it's crazy but I love it!

Actually it is not that compact. The print size is 20" x 30". Sorry to hear that your parents are gone. It is getting later, but it is not too late yet. The older you get the more you will wish you tried earlier to identify the photos. I have photos back into the mid 1800's. Sadly some have no name. Most do though.

While I worked with EZR M&M became one of my nick names. I often carried a stash of them in my rig for quick energy on long drives or between meals at shows. On time another roadie saw me eating some & yells out to everyone "M&M is being cannibalistic!" I just held the bag out, poured a few in his hand & said "Bite me!"

With any luck she'll be at Trail Days and I'm hoping she"ll get to meet Oz in Dahlonega. Oz said he wanted to see us off when we start our hike but I don't think that will happen. We start on the 20th and he's not due to the Hiker Hostel till then. I think we'll be gone by the time he gets into town. However my wife and friends will be at the Lodge the night of the 20th and checking out on the morning of the 21st. I'm hoping they can get with Oz and Daniel for lunch or dinner on the 20th or if that doesn't pan out, maybe breakfast on the 21st. We'll see.

We're going to have to do a few weekend trips between now and August to stay in shape for the Whites. Might be possible to catch y'all a couple of places during your Virginia section. Most of Virginia is within 3-4 hours of here, easy to make an overnight trip!

I signed up for a 5.5 mile hike with a local group. It is on the erie canal towpath trail and they have rated the hike strenuous.
Not sure how a flat tow path can be that hard. They are hiking along the tuscawarus (sp) river so it should be interesting anyway.

Maybe have to wade and swim part of the river along the way.

Funny story re Cat in the Hat.
When my wife was to meet one of my aunties for the first time it was at the airport when we were all meeting my parents returning from an overseas trip.
My wife asked what my aunt looked like.
As we had little kids at the time I said she looked as much like the Thing That Sings a Song (..So Long Thing You Sing Too Long) as a person could.
From over 50 yards away my wife saw her coming through the crowd and to this day I don't know how she kept her composure because she said there was never any doubt from the instant she saw her!

I may have left work but Daniel is working a 6pm to 6am nightshift on the night of Thursday 14th, coming home at about 6:30, getting a few hours sleep before we go to airport about midday. He figures it'll help him sleep on the plane.;)

But reality is his boss is being great about leave, but already has 4 off that week and asked if he could work until then.

I'm glad I'm not starting this week. Looks like some nasty stuff sliding down over Chicago.
I'm off to bed shortly. Have a big week coming up.
Another 250mile road trip tomorrow and lots to do around here. (Garage largely done and a lot of the market stuff. Still have some shed and yard things along with some more sorting off old stuff to the Salvation Army store.)
Paying the travel insurance this week and picking up the plane tickets from the travel agent.
Have another road trip away next weekend (with Mrs Jacko - Anne) and then a last few days that will include final packing.

Yes she will be updating as I go. As far as being a social butterfly there are times when we go to the grocery store that I have to leave her out in the car or we'll never get home. Yes she will be updating as I go. As far as being a social butterfly there are times when we go to the grocery store that I have to leave her out in the car or we'll never get home. At our home town in Alabama she worked for the bank for about 35 years and she knows everybody.

She had 5 posts in a row, but is yet to quote herself. It appears you have to train her some more if she is to because a mega POHO.

My family has to endure the same thing as well.....between hiking and just being a "people person" in general--- my poor family...
When my daughter hears or sees someone approaching while out hiking the trail.. I get short, fast low toned reminders not to ask the hiker(s) a million questions about themselves or talk for "hours" if the person seems up for convo.....:D

Good morning everybody. By now some of you have seen that my better half will be on once in a while.

Well, dang, I only missed her by about ten minutes last night! I didn't 't know you were signing her up on the spot!
