Trivia: Green Eggs and Ham is traditionally served to Dartmouth Outing Club freshmen at the Ravine Lodge on Moosilauke. Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss) was a Dartmouth alum, and the dish left enough of an impression on him for him to write the book.

I don't remember the ham, but they had some green looking eggs in 61* that Roger Marris turned Mickey Mantle on to.

That is good advice, but I do want to not learn everything the hard way. This is where the HYOH comes in. No matter what you do, it will be wrong or right in someones else. I believe tolerance is key. I am a OCD planner. Of all the the advice I have gleaned, I think the concept of tolerance and letting go of the concept of the "best" this or that has been the 2 most valuable. I find a lot of intolerant bloggers on here. If you don't do it their way, you get called names or worse. I just wish everyone could give advice in a good spirit. If not... well nothing nice to say here.

Yes she will be updating as I go. As far as being a social butterfly there are times when we go to the grocery store that I have to leave her out in the car or we'll never get home. Storm, I guess you will just have to throw a few extra pounds (or 10 or 20) in your pack to make it more challenging.

I carried a light pack yesterday just because I feel naked without a pack. I have never hiked with this group before. Not even sure it's a group. The county parks set up the hike and so far there are only 8 people signed up for it. I get laughed at around here just because I use treking poles. If someone questions me next saturday I will just point to the "Hike Your Own Hike" sticker in my cars back window.
Had an appointment with my back surgeon this morning. He told me he was done seeing me and that I now have no limitations just don't go crazy. He don't know me verwy well do he? Good to know I can head back to the mountains when I want.

I will likely be out of the Cafe for a bit. I am not sure if any recall. I have mentioned my ailing mother-in-law a couple of times. I have been blessed with the best one on the planet. Astro will recall a Festiva joke that involved her. Well, she passed this morning. I had big plans for 27k. It is likely those plans will have to wait for 28k. I'm out.
Sorry to hear that BB. My prayers go out yo her, you & your family.

I was hoping to maybe get in some hiking on the Pinhoti but it doesn't look like I'm gonna. I've just got too much to do around here. We got a little 1 mile track over at the city park behind the tennis courts a half mile from the house that I walk over to and go around in circles talking to myself (I talk to God too) that I'm gonna due real early in the mornings as much as I can but that's about it.

Wow, now it makes me wonder how she became vegetarian at such a young age? I guess when you live with a Chef you become more food conscious at an earlier age.

mornin everbody.
got in a nice hike yesterday in harriman state park.did a little over 11 miles of hills, picture perfect day, although there was little of not to take pics of. ive got a couple of nice shots of pine meadow lake which ill download sooner or later. only ran into two hikers both with dogs within the first mile, then nobody the rest of the day.i took the sawyer squeeze as i anticipated plenty of water, and it worked well, streams running high from snow runoff.there were patches of snow and ice here and there, but conditions were pretty good.i took my poles but i put them away after the first couple of hills, as i still feel i hike faster without them. with a fully loaded pack im more inclined to use them, but with a day pack, dont feel they help me at all.
i am restored.

Glad you had a good day!
Sounds great.
Tomorrow night (my time, Thursday mornng your time), I'mm off for two nights to Anne's family farm.
We plan to have a day hike in the Porongorup hills about 30 mile from the farm on Friday and come home Saturday.
Last time alone before I leave.
Will ask you more about the squeeze when I see you.
We have AquaMira drops and one filter of some sort on our shopping list on arrival.

Thank you. In-laws are the brunt of many jokes. I suppose there are bad ones out there, but I can't relate. I suspect part of it comes with the type of in-laws we are. Almost done checking Whiteblaze. Left a comment in the "will the bears eat me or my food thread". Now I need to go through my PM's. Back again soon.
