Thank you. In-laws are the brunt of many jokes. I suppose there are bad ones out there, but I can't relate. I suspect part of it comes with the type of in-laws we are. Almost done checking Whiteblaze. Left a comment in the "will the bears eat me or my food thread". Now I need to go through my PM's. Back again soon.

Just for fun...
If you have a fair level of tolerance for possibly offensive images....
Google Image search a$$ with USA spelling and then a#se Australian spelling. (See earler post if you don't know the missing letter.)
While there is a common theme you may see that we and the English use our word in much more varied ways...;)

By the way, I had to google donkey to get the earlier image.

mornin everbody.
got in a nice hike yesterday in harriman state park.did a little over 11 miles of hills, picture perfect day, although there was little of not to take pics of. ive got a couple of nice shots of pine meadow lake which ill download sooner or later. only ran into two hikers both with dogs within the first mile, then nobody the rest of the day.i took the sawyer squeeze as i anticipated plenty of water, and it worked well, streams running high from snow runoff.there were patches of snow and ice here and there, but conditions were pretty good.i took my poles but i put them away after the first couple of hills, as i still feel i hike faster without them. with a fully loaded pack im more inclined to use them, but with a day pack, dont feel they help me at all.
i am restored.
now back to work

HB, happy for you that you had such a good hike to recharge your batteries. :sun

Yeah - real capitalistic success story.
I think two guys (one from here - the other east coast) started the business.
Name comes from one of them walking from the coast of India to the top of Everest.

They saw a need for gear for the booming "adventurer" market and have filled the niche.

They are in the better stuff but our mining boom has caaused a fair number of "bogans" (read rednecks) to be "cashed up".
By and large, we are still a great place to live.
Where we probably rate very highly is like a lot of western Europe, our "poor" are mostly better off than the poor elsewhere. Always exceptions to be found and a lot of people do it tough but our welfare net is pretty good.

I meant time frame & what I really want to do over. I missed Tinker & Macafee Knob due to a sprained ankle. I had to road walk to Cloverdale. One of the few times I couldn't get a hitch when I really needed it. I remember seeing a storm coming & trying to reach a bridge before it hit. I couldn't hike faster due to the ankle & got hit by it. Was going to stop for a break under it, but it was an open treasel. Made it to PO & my mail person never got the message about sending me money (pre atm days). So I had to limp up to Fullheart Knob shelter. That day SUCKED. So I want to get that section in.

Yeah - real capitalistic success story.

Name comes from one of them walking from the coast of India to the top of Everest.

They saw a need for gear for the booming "adventurer" market and have filled the niche.

Rock Gap / Standing Indian Campground is open that time of year. It would shave off a couple of miles. There are other pickup points within the Standing Indian area (Forest Service roads 71, 83, and 67) I'm just not sure they are going to be be open that early in the year.
Is that -
USFS 71 at Deep Gap mm 85.4
USFS 83 at Mooney Gap mm 98.4
What mm is USFS 67

I'm slightly confused. Neither of my books has a 97.7 Companion has USFS 67 Bearpen Trail at 99.8 and AT Guide has USFS 67 at 100.3 Albert Mountain Bypass, west o.2 to parking and has Albert Mtn bypass to west reconnects 0.4 north at 99.8

Well, I grabbed a 2011 Data Book to look at the mile markers so I guess it could be off a little. The road didn't move but you might have to hike another mile or so. We're headed up again this weekend. I can stop in at the campground station and check to see when the roads open to the interior portion, and get back with you. I'd hate for you to have to walk all the way to Winding Stair Gap if you'd rather be picked up at Albert. I like that mountain. I'd go there anytime, as long as the road is accessible.
