and that was the main reason I went a little bigger (to be able to pack a winter load) not sure when I'll be able to buy a smaller more compressible bag, and a few other items that would lower my weight and size. And I'm still about a pond and few oz lighter than my Kelty pack.Kinda wishin for lager hip belt pockets...but they'll work..Ipod, camera, gorp!

It's a Clark. I think the model is the tropical. The one without the weather sheild. Standard tarp. I have tree straps, line tensioners and stakes that would go with it. Thinking $225 shipped.

You packin...beer? :DNot anymore, but I'd carry one for you! :) but no they wont fit and oil can(Fosters) but the pack has an H20 slit, and in the older-younger days of my youth, I'd have a windshield wiper pump with a battery goin to pump Bloody Mary's....easy on the blood, heavy on the Mary.:cool:

thnks, and thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. my moms cool with me hiking, says dads not dying yet, no reason to stick around just worrying, said if i was working, there would be no reason to take off of work, so no reason not to hike. she said shed rather me be happy on the trail than unhappy at work. where i am is not going to change anything.
cant understand how theyve put up with me all these years.
i have been fortunate to have such good parents.
Prayer going out to you and your dad.
That being said, do as your mom said, get out there, hike and be happy.

Hey there fellow lurker, I too do the same as everbody else I guess. But, I've been wanting to ask you about your name. You may have said something about it before and I missed it. Anyway, is it supposed to be like a fishin' as in I've gone a fisfin'.
Put it on the Hammock forum first .... then Wb to maximise your selling power... I wish you could try it out a little more before making your decision - but that is up to you.
I'm not planning on listing anywhere for the time being. It isn't eating anything. I hung one night that it got down to about 30 and with a good Montbell 15 degree bag I was very cold. I know all about under quilts and such but don't really want to go to the extra expense to get totally set up. Also slept very restless thinking I was going to hit the ground any minute.

I didn't get no stinkin PM. I'm available for up to three days during your time frame. I'm from Western NC and know many good spots. I'm way cheaper than the E-bay offer too, as in free. Seriously I'm game for good clean fun anytime.

It does look like a striper
It is a striper (and I'm proud of myself, normally put 2 p's), there's good striper fishing in the creek behind my house in the summer, they come out of the lake and run up into the creek to find cooler water. Never know what you might catch in that creek, caught a 1/4 lb crappie, a 7 lb bass, and a 30 or so lb blue cat on the same small 1/8 oz jig with a small shad plastic shad on it, the cat pulled the kayak all over the lake before I got him in...using ultralight...hey, I fish the same way I hike.

Oh, yes, definitely, we've been up there a couple of times in the past to check out the hiker parade and bike the Virginia Creeper Trail (the AT runs along part of it).
Most definitely we will be there!

That sounds like something a friend of mine did. He kept reeling the gator in then jumped up in the bed of his truck. I wish I'd of had a video. It was funny as hell.

I would love to catch a 4 lb blue gill, lb for lb one of the best fightin fishes, some of the large big fishes I've caught were a bust...just dead weight reelin em in.

Some of those little ponds and drainages are the best places to fish, Our NJ state record came from a farm pond a few towns over from me, I think it was 10lb for large mouth, that's darn big for around here, I'll have to dig up some of my fishy fishy pics sometime. I would love to catch a 4 lb blue gill, lb for lb one of the best fightin fishes, some of the large big fishes I've caught were a bust...just dead weight reelin em in.

Tried out my refined version of my breakfast drink today. This will be made on days that I don't feel like cooking.
2 packages of Carnation Instant Breakfast
8 scoops of Nido (scoop supplies with Nido)
3.4 oz package of instant butterscotch pudding
2 scoops of instant coffee (coffee scoop)
pour in water to 24oz mark on bottle
put on cover and shake like crazy
After powder and water is fully mixed you end p with a 16 oz drink with about 860 calories in it.
All I can say is bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz . I felt a little funny for about 2 hours.

I love good coffee, but don't overdo the caffeine. It'a a diuretic and can lead to dehydration. I tried a mix like yours on a hot day in VA & got early stages of heat exhaustion.

I do not recommend it unless on the trail. It is sorta' like those freeze dried meals that taste gross at home, but you end up liking the bag on the trail. I am gearing it for there, not here. It think it is refined enough. Not doing it again until out there.

I eat a honeybun with it.
I have to make it warm on cold days cause the stuff will just not mix below a certain temp.
But I will drink it lumpy. Have done that more than once or twice.

This is basically my morning drink less the butterscotch pudding (I may have to try it)
I eat a honeybun with it.
I have to make it warm on cold days cause the stuff will just not mix below a certain temp.
But I will drink it lumpy. Have done that more than once or twice.
ATM, please try it with the butterscotch pudding. It makes the drink. I tried several versions until I settled on this one. It is heavenly on the 1st gulp. By the time you make it to the bottom it starts to get a bit much. I suspect you will not mind on the trail though.

Please remember that Alligator has asked us not to discuss this type of thing in the cafe (posts removed, threads closed, etc). I think it's ok to laugh a little when threads get wonky, but not to dwell on it.

Another 2.5oz saved. Monkey fist I was going to carry = 2.9oz. Homemade rock/storage sack = 0.4oz. Ya'... I know... leave it home and save 100% of the weight on that item.

I'm gonna try it, maybe not at first cause I don't eat good at first but when I start getting hungry and start craving I'll definitely give it a try.

thank you trainwreck. I just don't want to come off the trail and find the cafe has been closed. the moderators are not our enemies. we have a loose leash in here. let's try to keep it that way.
