I'm not familiar with the area, so I'm not really sure how dangerous this may be. In my mind, I wouldn't want the adventure to end and I could save at least $100 bucks. But I don't want my naivety to be my downfall.

Roan Mountain in June is the same scenario. We grunted up the steep back slope and crossed the parking lot, full of cars, crammed with tourists. One of them looked at us in a shocked way and offered us a ride back down. I said, "Thanks, but we got this far, we're out to be miserable the rest of the way". Darn aggravating trail magic toting trail angels, always trying to mess with my hike :D

You go guys!

HB - Great news about your father and good luck with your (loosely!) planned section. Wave to me on the Belt Parkway - I'm hauling my daughter to Rockville Centre Sunday afternoon.

Sarcasm the elf - Congratulations. I know you're going to hear some jaundiced opinions, but in my life, she said 'yes' 24 years ago this week, and said 'I do' 23 years ago come June, and I made a great choice. (Her, not so much, but she seems to think otherwise.) I hope she turns you loose once in a while, because I'd still like to hike the Taconics with you... we missed connections twice already!

Rasty - Great! Get medical help if you need it. The docs can make it a little easier.

HikerMomKD - Hugs! I'd send them by PM but your mailbox is full. I hope you didn't think I was piling on in that asinine thread. Sorry if I gave offense.

I will give her a hug for a pie. Do we have a deal HM?

She's got my biggest hug...no strings. She and some others who make this place worth belonging to.

The pie thing is an ongoing joke between us. She would understand and half expect the pie comment. She was the 1st person I interacted with on Whiteblaze, my 1st friend on Whiteblaze, and the one that PM's me the most. Having said that, I agree with you. No strings attached is the right offer. I hope she is just in a funk. I hope to see her on here tomorrow.

She's a good kid. Sometimes she just lets stuff get to her because she has a soft heart. It costs her. But I woudn't have it any other way <3

In the 80's I was in a church that would do popcorn drills. You had to recite a verse if randomly called on. I memorized as many of these types of verses for those occasions. They stopped calling on me after a while.

I was going to launch on that one, but given current events, somehow I doubt it would have been funny.

Speaking of being a gram weenie (of which I am one in training), does anyone use a homemade alcohol stove? I made my 1st today. It came out okay, but I am sure I will be improving it.
