Tooth pain is the worst for me. I have broken several bones, torn ligaments and such but a hurting tooth just stops me in my tracks. I'm going to see an oral surgeon soon. Not looking forward to it but................

DH try getting some of that anbesol and forget the directions of rubbing a little on it and tear a small piece of cotton or paper towel and soak it with that stuff and I mean soak it and put it on that tooth and just keep resoaking it and that'll help.

We're gonna do the Dahlonega/Helen tourist thing for a couple of days. A girl from NC who is a trail runner is starting with me. Last time I hiked with her I kept up pretty good till we hit the uphills. Then it was like someone shot her out of a BB gun. (LOL) That's all I saw of her till the trailhead.

My advice, for what it is worth, is take the steeper grades very slowly....up or down.....slower than you would like,
for a week or two. Go ahead and roll on the easy grades, but give your achilles, ankles, hips, and knees time to adjust to the load on the steeper slopes. You'll have a lot more fun if you're not hurtin.

Tomorrow marks 25 years years since I stepped on the approach trail to Springer Mt.2043720438One of the best part of it was the people I met along the way. I still keep in touch with some. They became my family on the trail. We would do whatever we could to help each other out.

Thinking tonight of my "anniversary hike" I realize I already have a trail family before I set out. When I announced the date HM volunteered to host me for a night & drive me to the trail before I even got a chance to research shuttles. TW offer her place for the Sock Hop I have to miss. ATM offered me space in his room at the Lodge. I just want you all to know how much this means to me & how special you all are in my life. I look forward to meeting those on the trail this year. The rest of you, hopefully some day!

Tomorrow marks 25 years years since I stepped on the approach trail to Springer Mt.2043720438One of the best part of it was the people I met along the way. I still keep in touch with some. They became my family on the trail. We would do whatever we could to help each other out.

Thinking tonight of my "anniversary hike" I realize I already have a trail family before I set out. When I announced the date HM volunteered to host me for a night & drive me to the trail before I even got a chance to research shuttles. TW offer her place for the Sock Hop I have to miss. ATM offered me space in his room at the Lodge. I just want you all to know how much this means to me & how special you all are in my life. I look forward to meeting those on the trail this year. The rest of you, hopefully some day!

I have seen these advised in a lot of places. Your extra vote is probably enough for me to try one. I like to do things the hard way 1st. :) Can you set a pot directly on top of these. The one I made works best if you do.

Just ran another test. Mine runs for 5:48 seconds on 1 oz of fuel. I think I could benefit from smaller burner holes. My version has 16 1/16" holes drilled around edge. I am going to try 3/64" holes on next one.

We had a good ole' time. We goofed around the airport, almost got lost in the airport. I was in the car with Jac for his first try at driving on the wrong side of the road.....leaving the JFK area no less. We talked for hours like we had known each other for years. Saw some of the destruction from Sandy. Had a bit of a run-around trying to get the fellas phones. We have advised them to get verizoon (ausie). So they are all set there. Had a decent nite sleep on our neos on the livingroom floor. Breakfast at IHOP, then REI...............I was afraid we might not get out of there. They got some clothing and daniel got new sticks. I got a new pair of trousers, and a Snow Peak pot. The pants were on clearance. I also reupped my membership. The girl was giving me the pitch and I told her I once was....oh it's is lifetime...what is your name? I had no dividends left over! Then That was it they were off, I had a 2 hr. ride back home. I will hook up with Jacko and Daniel when they get up here, a couple of times I hope.

I can tell you without looking at his journal that he's eating a Cool Jewel! I have one every time I go to the NOC. The boys are in for a real treat when they get to that section. It's got enough ice cream in it to satisfy even the Milkman.

I just realized I did not answer your question.........did I.

We had a good ole' time. We goofed around the airport, almost got lost in the airport. I was in the car with Jac for his first try at driving on the wrong side of the road.....leaving the JFK area no less. We talked for hours like we had known each other for years. Saw some of the destruction from Sandy. Had a bit of a run-around trying to get the fellas phones. We have advised them to get verizoon (ausie). So they are all set there. Had a decent nite sleep on our neos on the livingroom floor. Breakfast at IHOP, then REI...............I was afraid we might not get out of there. They got some clothing and daniel got new sticks. I got a new pair of trousers, and a Snow Peak pot. The pants were on clearance. I also reupped my membership. The girl was giving me the pitch and I told her I once was....oh it's is lifetime...what is your name? I had no dividends left over! Then That was it they were off, I had a 2 hr. ride back home. I will hook up with Jacko and Daniel when they get up here, a couple of times I hope.Awesome, been busy all day, looking forward to catching up after dinner....

I love hiking on the AT, but I believe sometimes I enjoyed hitting the towns for hot food even more. Fond memories of the dinner and breakfast at the NOC. Especially dinner after doing my first 16+ mile day.

I had heard so many horror stories about that climb out of the NOC. It is a long uphill but I took my time and when I was done with it was wondering what all the halabaloo was about.

We did it in early summer. It was sometime in the early 1990s. There were a couple of spots so steep, I remember standing directly above the folks behind me and looking down upon the tops of their heads. Suck in your gut, take a deep breath, and...puke!!! :D

I was going to talk about the science behind a calorie, but I suspect I would be shot down by people who don't know what a calorie is. I am thinking of adding 4 holes about 1/2" from bottom. I believe the venturi effect is not happening until the fuel burns below the cup jets. Any suggestions... on fixing the stove.Hey Bird Brain, was tinkering with this idea last year and have yet to do anything with it yet.

Picture if you will a little wire Easter Egg Dipper the kind used to dye eggs....making one out of copper wire may allow it to be dunked into the stove fuel and adding some flame to it there by heating the alcohol...one problem with this would be heating it to much and having it dissociate so fast that it explodes (GO BOOM)....I was gonna try this out but wanted someone to try it out first as I don't want to explode.....anyway....there it is.
