BB, I'm staying the heck out of that thead, but just to clarify regarding your response.

When the word is used by scientists, a calorie is the energy needed to raise the temperature of 1ml of water by 1degree celcius.

When the word is used on food packaging or regarding nutrition, a "Calorie" is actually used to mean a Kilocalorie, or the energy required to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water by one degree Celsius.

Why do the purposly use the word incorrectly on food packaging? Well, as you know the whole purpose of food science is to confuse the heck out of the general public.

My left toe of my left foot was amputated this last Feb 15. I see the Surgeon this March 28th to see if I can return to a regular shoe. Doc says I will be ok to start CDT this latter part of April. I was going to start April 20th, may wait until end of April to start. I DID want to get a head start, oh well. I'll be using those Keen shoes. They're good for my feet. Whats good for my feet is good for my mind. Cuz my mind can't stand anymore abuse than my feet as my feet talk to my mind when I'm walking. So when my feet get a hurtin' then my mind gets to doubtin' and then one thing leads to another and before you know it I am stopped for the day. So, moral of the story? Make sure you take real good care of your feet. Clean 'em each day, put good socks on 'em, rest 'em, feed 'em, and put shoes on 'em that are good from the start. The brand and type are different for each of us but the effort is worth it. Happy Paddys Day, God Bless All here!

Happy Paddys Day, God Bless All here!Sorry to hear that Sunnywalker, you mean just a few weeks ago it was done? what happen to it, if you don't mind me askin? and good luck at the doctors.

And where were you when I need someone to save me from myself? I am going back to that thread and putting a bunch of ............. in the place of what I wrote.

OK, I've waited! When this thread started 8 months ago, I watched while the post numbers grew. Decided I would just watch until and IF it got to 1,000 posts before joining in. Then I watched and waited until 10,000 posts. Then 20,000! So now that posts have exceeded 30,000, I'm doing it! I am posting for the first time in this thread. Don't have anything to add, other than that I am now posting! I'm sure there are MANY other lurkers out there, like me, that just sit by and enjoy the banter on this thread-----make yourselves known!

As for the group starting to hike---- I too am envious! This was to be my year and I would have liked to have met you on the trail. Health issues have side-lined me to next year.... I am sitting in my cabin about 10 miles from Springer as I type this, recuperating.

Y'all have a great time---but---I'm concerned about all of the 'Yankee's' and other foreigners in these "nawth Jawja" woods----haven't y'all ever seen "Deliverance"? ---Really--y'all be careful!!! lol hobby

Welcome aboard. I have one concern though. You sound too normal.

Okay... here is a public plea. If you have been lurking but not posting because of the big scary HB, it is safe. Come on in. Let's redecorate while he is gone.

Besides, once you get to know him, he is not scary at all. It's TW and OS that you really should be worried about. shh... let's keep that between us.
