Hey, Oz, you can send it to the poho palace but you need to send by Fedex or UPS - not by US Postal Service! We discontinued our mail delivery by USPS so it will be returned if you do. Maybe all the way back to Australia! - I'll have our neighbor watch out for a UPS or Fedex delivery there and snag the box. We have a covered porch where they leave packages. PM me with the expected delivery date and they'll go fetch it off my porch and keep it for ya safe and sound. If you prefer to send it to the Hiawassee post office, check their hours to be sure you don't land there on a Sat. after they're closed or something.

If you mail it from a Florida post office, it is legal in most of the south, but It's near impossible to mail it to MD, NJ, NY, CT, or MA unless you are a resident and mail it from an in state post office. Anyone can mail it to Vermont, no questions asked, but you can only mail it from Florida to New Hampshire of you are a Florida resident. You used to be able to mail it from Florida to Pennsylvania, but I heard this just changed.

I need a cup of coffee and a shot of something strong. I got a string of bad luck and had to postpone my thru hike to next year. I had the brakes fail in my truck while coming up to a busy intersection and lived to tell about it, then the next week I had a hit and run on my other vehicle, now nursing an arm injury and kicking myself for having bad luck. I have though have a silver lining peaking through as a national charity wants to possibly use my hike for a fundraising event coupled with some corporate sponsors....it was thrown to me just a few short weeks before i was to go and they needed time to get a plans/events/print/media/etc together so it looks like 2014b for me. Now where is that shot!

Hope you had time to check out the little Gold Rush museum in the middle of town. Dahlonega was the site of a short-lived gold rush in the early-mid 1800's. The gold that was extracted from that area was some of the purest ever seen up to that time. It had a particular sheen and color that was unique to the location. When I visited there, the tour guide passed around and let everyone hold a kruggerand (spelling?) made from gold dug in the area.

not ideal, but not bad for the start.

so far the cafe tribe includes milkman, oz, daniel, mother teresa, adam ant and me.went to register this morning and met a few people starting the approach trail. olive oil (yes, she looks like olive oil)had a 40 lb pack, realized she was carrying too much weight, so we offered to go through her stuff, shave some pounds, found out she was starting with 4L of water sho she emoptied the bladder, left ebehind most of her "first aid kit", and a windbreaker she had in addition to her rain jacket.shes now carrying 33 lbs, a lot happier.im sure well run into her again tomorrow.

We've seen dreadlocks, teddy bears.

I think I would shave it before I would go dreadlocks.
Worked for Bob Marley, but not for me.

I'm not joking, it's a felony to possess ammunition in Massachusetts without a license. Just pick up five new bullets once you get to Vermont.

Or bounce them with the laptop.

I can't add anything as fitting as this. To the current cafe starting crew - HB, Oz, Daniel, Milkman, Mother Teresa, the Ants - safe journeys!
I am sure the ranks will increase

BB, how can you not like grits? Just got through eating them.

I am going to feed all my Yankees and Aussies grits and they will like it.

Reminds me of when this Texan and Alaskan were looking at a barbwire fence.
Texan says we feed it to our Cowboys and tell them it is spaghetti. Alaskan responds, that ain't nothing, we feed it to our women and they know what it is.

I need a Bumper sticker with "I don't kill people"

I am not into bumper stickers, but when I saw this one I could not resist putting in on my 1988 Ford Festiva. I loved that car.
People would tell me all the time, "Your sticker is going off".
This sticker brought joy into many lives. So much better than all the "your position or beliefs are wrong and evil" stickers.

Kind of weather that makes you want to keep moving. Windy too. AT least not starting in precip.

I could learn a lot from GB and many others on here. Come to think of it, that is why I am here. Occasionally, I think I have something to offer. Sometimes it does not go well. I cringe every time I see that sponsorship thread. I fear I am one BirdBrain disease away from being him.

Fixed it. I wish I knew how to post a full size picture from my computer. I do it fine from the web. But often run into trouble trying to do the same from my computer. Help me Obi-Wan-PoHonees, you are my only hope.

SPANKY: I hope it gets good and dark!
SCOTTY: Yea, maybe we'll see some ghosts!
