WOO, there have been lots of instances in the last 2 or 3 months, some of which went quickly to deleted status. Alligator has made it pretty clear that discussing deleted threads are not in the cafe's best interest, since they are against the TOS.

Generally speaking, dogs, guns, hiker feeds, homeless people, trail magic, carving, the color of your backpack, bah blah blah.

Just speaking from experience. Come to think of it women hikers are probably much better with directions than the average woman (or least those I have run in to). I know nearly all the many maps I have seen women draw for directions, very seldom was North pointing up.

Sounds like it! The next test - 20 ml of alcohol, 2 cups of water. Should prime much faster, and boil in about 5 min (and burn out almost immediately after the boil).

Do you have some way to insulate the stove from the cold ground? That'll make it prime faster.

It did. My eyesight went crazy last weekend. I could not drive, it was so bad. I made an appointment with regular doctor. After hearing symptoms he rushed me in to see an optometrist. Long story, but I am fine. Good news is I may be able to have binocular vision for 1st time in life. I am legally blind in left eye. Things have changed over the years. After 2 hours of testing, they feel they can provide glasses that will bring my bad eye up to 20/25 vision. It was weird. I had depth perception for 1st time in life. Will fill prescription soon.

It did. My eyesight went crazy last weekend. I could not drive, it was so bad. I made an appointment with regular doctor. After hearing symptoms he rushed me in to see an optometrist. Long story, but I am fine. Good news is I may be able to have binocular vision for 1st time in life. I am legally blind in left eye. Things have changed over the years. After 2 hours of testing, they feel they can provide glasses that will bring my bad eye up to 20/25 vision. It was weird. I had depth perception for 1st time in life. Will fill prescription soon.

That must have been scary. Glad your ok and something can be done.

At that time they said it was so bad that there was nothing that could be done to fix it. So, I go through life with one eye a no depth perception. Last weekend I have an episode with my good eye. Yesterday when my doctor finally sees me, he thinks I might be on the verge of having a detached retina. So they rush me to an optometrist to find out. To long a story to describe issue, but my good eye looks fine. During the visit they run tests on my bad eye and tell me that they can correct it to 20/25. And I have already told you the rest of the story. Needless to say, I am a bit excited. I see the world as a flat picture. Yesterday was the 1st time I saw the world like most do. It was only through a machine and only looking at letters, but it was a taste of things to come. It has a limit though. It will only be for close up reading and such.
