Walked just an hour and a half. Saw a huge Red Tailed Hawk, bunch of fiddlehead ferns, many violets and numerous other small purple flowers I can't name. Oh yeah, a few shrooms here and there but no morels.

On the way home from a weekend at the cabin. Had the Great pleasure of hosting Mulungu, the husband and wife team from South Africa who are hiking from Springer to Harpers Ferry. Ian and Leslie aka Springbok and Cat Lady are having a great time so far. We picked them up at Winding Stairs Gap yesterday for a couple of nights off the trail. it has rained nonstop all weekend! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. They're waiting till tomorrow to get back on the trail. Heavy rain all day.
They've met Slo-go'en and camped with him a few nights.
I made them promise to make an appearance in the cafe when they have the opportunity :)

Ok... sounds good! The weather looks decent for this weekend! :) I've never been hiking to Thomas Knob Shelter! I looked in the guide book just now, the Grayson Highlands State Park (south entrance) is only a few miles away from Thomas Knob, hiking SOBO. That could be a fun short hike!
