This is Lucy. I normally would not post this on a non-dog forum, but hey, it's the cafe, and we have quite a few dog lovers here - and, who can resist that face?!? This girl is looking for a home in the New York/Connecticut area. Here's her info:

I'm Lucy, and my friends at Stray from the Heart in New York City have helped me forget my rough start in life. But it left me with scars, as you can see. They took me to the vet, who said that since I'm in no pain and can eat and drink and play, I don't need surgery. And my rescue group friends all say I'm still perfectly beautiful when you look at me with your HEART!

I get along great with all dogs and cats, and my friends want me to stay within a three hour or so drive, so they can always be a resource for me. Also, they say they'll welcome me back for vacations sometimes! Aren't they NICE?

So I'm here today to ask you to give me the greatest gift of all for National Disabled Pets Day: A new home! Please share me, and ask everyone to look past my mis-healed jaw and into my heart -- I'm counting on you!

I looked through it a couple hours ago.

I especially like the part about peroxide being more effective than bleach. Ever since working for a pool maintenance company as a summer job in college, I haven't been able to stand the smell of bleach and only use it when I think it's absolutely necessary. On the other hand I usually have an ounce or two of peroxide in my pack as part of my first aid kit.

I ended up meeting a buddy of mine that I hadn't seen in a while and hiked one of the Connecticut blue trails. It always amazes me how many great trails they manage to hide away inside the dense urban corridor in this state. The trailhead we went to today looked like it was someone's driveway and if it wasn't for the 4"x4" placard put on the entrance by the local maintaining club, I would have assumed that we were trespassing. Once we got a few hundred yards away from the road it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere...perfect weather too.

I really like IM... he's funny, just like his dad. Such a nice father/son team! IM said that the trail sometimes goes right through towns but sometimes the trail goes right through a "person".... In Daleville, that would be HIKERMOM! Soo funny!!

HB said they saw a sign in Damascus that said- God loves you. They were going to cover up parts of the sign and make it read- HikerMom loves you- whether you like it or not!! They took down the sign before they could "fix" it... LOL... that's so funny!!

That's funny. We got my nephew one of these for his birthday or Christmas. Everybody else got him remote this, remote that, cars, planes, you name it. Do you know that peg board and hammer was all that kid would play with. Everybody was trying to get him to play with "their" toys but that hammer bench was all he wanted. They were so mad at us. 2 - 3 weeks later my sister-in-law call and says I'd really like to thank you for that toy. The kid wont put it down. All day long, bang, bang, bang. It's driving me nuts. Try and take it away and he pitches a fit. Thanks a lot.
