how does this statement contribute exactly?

HB, actually I was thinking about people just posting speculating when they really did not know what was going on. So if it prevented that, it would be good. But on the other hand I can see how it could be perceived as just another non-value added post. And of course I posted it here instead of there, so I guess I was just sharing my take on it more than anything else. Perhaps as Rasty eludes to I am just a non-valued added PoHo. :)

i hiked with a coupla guys that bought camp chairs after 471 miles, added to their pack weight, knew they could handle the weight and decided they wanted to be more comfortable if theyre gonna be out there for another 3 or 4 months.

I try not to associate with "them." I think they are the ones who pack their fears... I try not to pack fears. Had one slip out of my pack once and I stepped in it. Couldn't get it off my shoe for a week.

I like the idea of camp chairs! Definitely more comfortable that way... Just have not found one I like so much I am willing to carry it. Though, I do keep an eye out for possibilities!

It is an OCD thing. People with OCD are constantly looking for order and patterns. I benefit from the same "affliction" that Telsa did. My obsession convinced me of the presence of a designer in all things (Romans 1:20). I am obsessed with the number 4. He was obsessed with the number 3. The post number was 37773. 3 seven 3. 3 times 7 = 21. 2 + 1 = 3. 3 3 3. It makes little sense to those who are not obsessed with numbers, but I am certain it would not be lost on him.

ATM, no that was the Vega, which was similar to the Ford Pinto, except the gas tank didn't explode on it if you hit the bumper (like the Pinto did). Great cameo of that in the movie Top Secret.

Are you all settled in for the night? It was good to see you Oz, as well as IM and AA and everybody else. What a great time Trail Days is. Even with all that happened spirits were high and everybody had a good time. I'll mention this here. We stopped at the Alvarado Station on the way out and a man there told us there was also a stabbing Sat night at the main bridge by the caboose. His daughter confirmed this as she was questioned because she was dressed like a girl that was involved. She said the police had to go into the river to arrest the guy. But I'm going to leave this story here in the café. If it's true it will surface elsewhere. But, it was fun and we had a great time.

I am signing off now.
AA is snoring behind me, IM is about to do same.
If I leave it too late IM has too much of the bed for me to squeeze in and I have a hard time trying to shift him.
Mail boxes in the morning and hope to be hiking before 9:30.

Have a good night Oz, good hiking to you and again was good to see you and had a great time. Definitely a do again thing.

Trillium,
This article is kind of unfortunate, but what caught my eye is that the Trail parade was in Damascus. Isn't that where you are starting up again on your hike?

Been to the first 6 places. What a good time. Dropped the ice cream out of my cone at Rushmore right onto the pavement in front of about 100 people. I politely said as everyone was watching "I am a proud man but I'm not too proud to waste food", and scooped that ice cream right back up in my cone and gave it a big old lick right there in front of everybody. Some I think wouldn't have dared by the look on their faces and others I think just may do the same if it ever happens to them. Heck that cone was $6.

AK had a very concise answer to the tick question thread. My hiking partner has informed me that he will not be helping me look for ticks.

I saw that...somethin to do with a mirror and a good friend

Hmm, I wasn't expecting to make that much of an impression with the posting! The things that hikers will read into a posting!

Most of the places that you guys appear to be thinking about, I can check just fine with a mirror. But there are a few spots that you kind of need to have a partner check (or a second mirror, held in a third hand - a nifty trick if you can do it!) to check. For example, under the hairline at the back of the neck or over the ears - and I've had a tick attach right at the hairline in back at least once.

I can use a mirror to check between my legs and under my arms all by myself, thank you. :) (Which, I'm sure, is a relief to my non-hiker wife.)

And 37773 is divisible by 33. The quotient, 1399, is prime.
