So, with what you wear to hike in winter, then you probably wear one of those sling things, no pockets, lots of ventilation.

Probably easier to take the high road when you get to hike from Springer to Damascus, and know in August you are going to do the rest of the trail. I think it might be the cyber-hikers who do not get out enough who end up getting in most of the squabbles (probably self included there).

Me too. A little catches a spark easy as pie. Couple that with some vaseline soaked cotton balls and you're off to the races. When it's really wet out I like to chop up little tiny splinters of fatsticks, make a "match" out of the whole arrangement and light it with my flint and steel (or lighter if I'm feeling lazy :p ) Usually good for a 1 minute burn. Oh the luxuries.

Hey yall jumping on here for a hiking hm update. I tripped over a pa rock on day 2. Now on day 6 I have a purple eye. We have just completed 70 miles. Saw a rattlesnake today....beautiful creature. Moved right off the trail with a little sweet talkin....we banged out 3.4 miles in 1 hour 6 minutes yesterday to get to the campsite. Yay. I met sixes on wb. So nice..he said he knew who I was...shocking. Gotta run. Love yall.

Thanks Oz. Are you guys in the barn again or did you get a spot in the garage? What's the destination for tomorrow? By the way 67mi. in 4 days, not too shabby at all. 33 more and you can take Sun off.

In the barn again.
Lamberts meadow WAS destination.
The rain has cast doubt on that.
Hiking in a big bubble of "young ones" still.
Can't wait for some of them to run out of money so we can stay in more hostels and less hotels.

Not to worry though, a lifetime of foolishness has left me with more than enough stories to tell around the campfire.

Better! Last month was a ruff one. just getting over the knee & got tendinitis in my elbow from chopping ice to make room for an incoming storm. Just as that healed gout set in my other ankle. Thankfully feeling alright now other than a little sore from salvaging some stuff from store next door that is being demolished. To long with no exercise. That is changing. Need to be up to 20+ mile days by Sept. when I get to take my extended vacation.
