When I saw their pic this morning I had a deep longing to be out on the AT. I had really thought earlier this year that I would meet Ozzy and others out on the AT this spring. It does not look like that will be happening. I am still happy for everyone else and I/we will be out there soon enough.

Hey, GB... It matters little what people call you or what you call yourself. If your heart is right toward the right Guy, I will see you gold blazing someday. Salvation is a heart condition, not a magic repeat after me prayer or membership to the right man-made building.

I'm excited to meet someone I've never met before. Coffee Rules hooked me up with her. She's flying to Roanoke from Hawaii tomorrow night. She was supposed to hike the trail with a friend but he got off the trail already. She's hiking anyway. She wants to go to Pearisburg and hike to Daleville. I'm keeping her other things for her while she hikes then she's renting a car and heading to Ohio. She's into Frisbee Golf. :) I can't wait to meet her, she seems like cool person. :)

Definitely.

Years ago while climbing the Precipice trail in Acadia, in the rain, I actually pulled one of the iron rungs out of the mountain. Scared the bejesus out if me and made me lose any of the nerve I had left at the time.

Holy cow! Reading that just woke me up!! Have done that trail in the rain... The last time I did that trail, I had this nagging thought - What if one of these rungs (that I am depending on) pulls out of the rock? Well, now I know. Had it happened to me, I would have had to change my shorts!

Coach, you should plan ahead so you can drive HB down next spring and hike a week or so in the bubble. The downside is that yes there are a lot of crowds, but the upside (that I believe far out weighs it) is that you get to meet so many different neat and interesting people. Most are really upbeat and excited about starting a thru-hike. A great experience if you can work it out. :sun

THAT is a good question - I do lots of things!

Seriously, I do not have one title to sum it up. Without naming exactly what I do for work (exactly), and where I work (hey, this is the internet)... Let's just say it has to do with marine biology with more of a slant toward wildlife biology and ecology. Additionally, eco tourism does play a part. Three months out of the year I live in the field. The rest of the year is spent doing some fieldwork, though I spend a lot of time working from home.

During this time of year, I tend to take more time for me and I allow myself to go play whenever possible. Thus, the playing on/in the water lately. It is high water right now... One cannot pass that up! :)

Now that all that is cleared up *snicker, snicker*

Come to think of it I don't know if "hiking for too long" is possible. :)

Growing up in South Florida we always just looked at the panhandle (Lower Alabama) as just another way to collect taxes from the tourist.

With Rasty in charge we would not need to worry about pink curtains.
But he might really look down upon what we are eating (can not even have a non-NYC pizza). Of course if he volunteered to cook for all of us, I am sure that would not be a problem.

Well, that's about as clear as mud!! Just kiddin. ;) Thanks for sharing WR. I'm understanding more than I did before. :)

You and TW are PoHo queens. Good to see you around more lately.... We are getting more gurls to hang together in the Cafe. S'more aka S' is hanging with us now & others as well. :>) Welp, gotta run to the airport...

I ate a black fly once - Quite by mistake. Yuck! I don't suggest it, even in making a point. :D
My personal record is 17 mosquitoes inhaled in one day. Sky lakes wilderness in OR on the PCT. They were so thick that if you felt one land on you & went to swat it you usually got 2 & sometimes three. Bad area to try Avon skin so soft non deet repellent. Only time it was effective was when you got a crust of it built up thick enough they couldn't bite through it!
