I sit corrected! Thanks! They must have done away with the extended cabs. I used to have a '93 extended cab. It was awesome to have an extra seat, without the extra doors.

I don't know much about the area you are in. I've had good luck in the past finding the highest peak around and then enjoying many views of fireworks in many directions. Happy 4th of July from an American friend.

In other words not really a feasible option.

More feasible from the Success Trail, which is nearer Berlin, but it would still be a long walk to town. I don't know how busy the road is. I'd imagine the closer it is to Berlin or to Main Rt. 26, the busier it is. Others from that area would have a better idea. There are several other side trails coming off the Mahoosuc Trail/A.T. to Success Pond Road. I gather they're pretty rugged.

I think illabelle's name should reflect her number crunching ability. ILB is nice but kinda hard to remember. I was thinking something like "the count" or "abacus." JMHO of course.

isuggest we eliminate the first and last 3 letters and simply call her "abe"

sorry guys, the problem with those ideas is that somebody who doesn't know that illabelle = the count = abacus = abe won't be able to follow the conversation. ILB or IBL or just about anything that starts with I will work. IBELLE, IBEL, IBL, ILB, ILLB, ILL89WETNVLKJFF

Fall colors usually peak first few weeks of Oct. Water in some places depend on the summer rain. Last year in July some summit areas were dry or just a trickle. Columbus day is considered normal peak weekend so plan accordingly if you head into a town. Higher rates if you can even find a room!

we'll only be there for a week. not sure yet about starting point, probably NOBO from N Adams. getting a room in town won't be imperative - but it would be nice! just getting a resupply on groceries will be enough. how does the terrain compare to TN/NC? and is it rocky like PA?

Other than initial climb out of N Adams & decent to Rt 9 & climb out terrain not that bad & not that rocky. Great views from Glastenbury Shelter. Stratton Pond another great shelter/camping spot. i've been thinking about moosilauke lately. planning a section in VT this fall, but i'm pretty scared of NH and ME. i admire you guys that have conquered.

I've scarely conquered, but have been happy to scale some of the big, beautiful Whites. They're awesome mountains - overused word, but it squarely applies here. Had I more money and time, I'd be up there a lot more.

As for VT, Mountain Mike's on target. I'd say think of September 30 as peak for Waterbury area (between Mansfield and Camel's Hump) and October 7 for Killington to Stratton. I did Stratton on 10/9/10 and found the winds had just knocked most leaves off the birch and beech at 2800-3300, above which was dominated by spruce and fir. Vermont's beautiful and quite a bit easier, what I've seen of it, than the Whites, though I hear from others here that it gets more rugged north of Killington/Rt. 4.

As for Moosilauke, it is one grand mountain. I love it dearly.

Book now if you need a hotel! Many years ago I went up there to check out a Restaurant/Motel in Killington that some friends were thinking of buying & wanted me to be maintenance/upgrade man. I couldn't find a room at anywhere & stealth bivyed untill I could get in touch with my friends the next day.
We're all set on the room. My brother-in-law booked them quite some time ago. He's from there. I think we're in North Conway somewhere.

so then she has to beg this poor clerk (a guy) to come in the room with her and search her buttocks for a stinger! which they never found, of course.

true story, i know the woman, and i believe every word of it. she said she'd never been stung by a wasp before.

END OF STORY
even funnier was listening to her tell it, being so incredulous that a wasp would actually sting her and it would hurt so much! and her ignorance about stingers, and her screaming, and her really believing that somehow the clerk/owner was responsible for her "injury." clueless!!!

I've always used cornmeal, mainly cuz i didn't know better. somebody told me flour works better, so that's what i'm doing this year.

the okra will be completely dressed!

how did "4" become special?

I am a rare person that has a memory from every year of my life. I do not recall exactly when it became an obsession. I believe it was sealed at a very early age at a fair with my father. My mother and father were divorced. I remember the raw emotion he was tortured by on that day. I remember getting 2 items. One was a printout that stated that my favorite color was green and that my favorite number was 4. I also got an aluminum slug that had my name on it and address with a 4 leaf cover on the back. I still have the slug. Although it is worn smooth, I can see it as brand new in my mind's eye.

Now mind you, I already had 4 as a favorite number and green as a favorite color. Call me a nut, but I believe God loves children and that those 2 moments were ordered for me by God. I could explain why I like the number 4, but felt this would be a better facet to relay.

Sigmoid Fraud would have great fun with me. I have memories back to being a few weeks old. It is the type of memory at that age he would drool over. I think he drooled a lot being insane.

Okay... it is off to meet the day.

Sometime if I am in the mood I will relay my 1st memory that is like a movie. I have flashes of images and the feelings from as early as a few weeks. My 1st complete memory is at about 10 months old. It is a funny story. Maybe later.
