When I began to see feedback from my excessive posting run, I knew I would need a little time to reflect.
I had a lot going on Fri/Sat, so I logged off. This is my first opportunity to catch up without interruption.

Prior to June 26, merely two weeks ago, I had few posts, no WB friends, and little interaction. Then I started the Life After thread, which got way more traffic than I anticipated, and was ... mostly ... loads of fun. It resulted in several new friendships and invitations to the Cafe, where I landed in the middle of the K-hunting game. Being goal-driven and prone to game addictive behavior, this was a bad mix. I should have kept my distance from the game. I did not, and I regret it. I've done stupider things, but thankfully not in public.

In penance, I have banned myself from posting in the Cafe prior to July 17. In addition, I have deleted my avatar and retreated to Lurkerville, my hometown, to further reduce my presence. Meanwhile, I will lurk in the Cafe, and may post elsewhere. Thank you for your patience and forbearance.

I have enjoyed the camaraderie of the Cafe, the banter, and even the nonsense. If I ever meet any of you in person, I'll be the one with the bag over my head bumping into things.

I joined him mid-afternoon Saturday, and we had an arduous, awesome traverse of Moosilauke, up the extraordinary Beaver Brook Trail Saturday, sheltering atop the falls at the DOC's nice lean-to, taking in a beautiful sunrise yesterday, and then taking the better part of the day crossing the big Moose and schlepping down to the village south and west of it. Great hike.

For sure. Though we didn't end up hiking together much. I set a glacial pace up Beaver Brook, took me the four hours I predicted, and Lou got up in about two-and-a-half. He didn't say so, but I expect he wanted to make sure to claim a spot in the shelter for me, since we got started at 2:30 - the plan had been for noon, but the K Ridge Trail exacted more time out of Lou than expected.

Yesterday, expecting that Lou would catch me, I set out at 6 am or so. Lou headed out at about 7:15 and only caught up to me at the end, taking the roadwalk for the last mile and change, where I took the A.T. routing. I had sent the message to him with some NOBOs and day hikers that I was gonna take the road, but I changed me mind when the trail turned off the road. I got to Hikers Welcome to find that Lou got there a few minutes before me and helped himself to a shower. I followed suit right away. So we actually hiked together for about 0.2 miles, but spent a lot of time together with a nice group including five others, four SOBOS and a fellow weekender, in the shelter, with about 4 guys occupying the couple of tent pads, as well.

Not as bad up north, but pretty steamy still and yet. I hiked in shorts only yesterday except for the first hour and then for the mile-and-a-half across the summit, where it was cool, very windy and at times a bit rainy.

We had a great hike this weekend. Coach hiked all four days, from Franconia Notch to Glencliff. I joined him mid-afternoon Saturday, and we had an arduous, awesome traverse of Moosilauke, up the extraordinary Beaver Brook Trail Saturday, sheltering atop the falls at the DOC's nice lean-to, taking in a beautiful sunrise yesterday, and then taking the better part of the day crossing the big Moose and schlepping down to the village south and west of it. Great hike.
Definitely sounds like a great hike.

Also hefted along two of those superhealthy Bolthouse Farms smoothies, quart-size and a few 20 oz gatorades which I spaced out strategically, plus four apples and a reserve of trail mix with almonds mixed in. Reserve b/c there's a bunch of sucrose on the mix, and I don't trust that stuff.

The Green Machine smoothie got me up to the shelter, augmented by liberal quantities of untreated Beaver Brook. The Mango what-ever smoothie was breakfast, and the apples got me through the course of the day. I was good and famished by the time I got to Hanover, where I had a nice, rich salmon carborna with a wedge salad at Jesse's.
