The key to cheesecake is slowly mixing. You don't want to beat any air into it.

I respectfully disagree. The more air in the material, the better the R-value. Plus, the softer the material will be to sleep on.

See what you did there W.O.O.!

Every time I'm About to finally order a 1 man tent, some hammock hanger has to go and make me think that I should take that plunge instead! All these decisions make this hiking stuff overcomplicated.

A guy who admits to pack hoarding can clearly afford a hammock - suggest an ultra light Hennessy with tree straps and a 3/4 underquilt from Stormcrow.

This is a good week for HikerMom. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up Carry on & Eagle Eye.. 2 gurls that only have under 200 miles to finish-SOBO. They started with 5 gurls but now it's down to just these 2. I can't wait to meet them. I'm going to take them to the post office etc...then, they are staying here with us at the house. I'm going to be slackpackin them all the way to Rt. 311. The weather was crappy today but the sun is comin out tomorrow and it's supposed to be in the high 60's as they hit Tinker Cliffs and McAfee Knob... :D I love meeting new people!!!!!!!!!

Have been very busy with work and nonwork issues.
Somebody hacked my email and I've just had Daniel totally scan and debug computer over last 2 days.
No real harm done as seems they just sent some spam to all my contacts (some I haven't had contact with for over 10 years).
We are in process of tidying and "fixing" things around home as someone will be unavailable to do any of that for 6 months next year.
In addition we are going through a spate of doing things that we couldn't do before as we had a lonely dog at home, e.g. went to a ballet performance last night.
Dancing lessons, ballet....and I bet y'all thought Australians were uncouth.
Let me tell you - I got couth in bucketloads....:D

Hey, if Oz wants to show off his new moves - Let him. Then we can call it "Dance Your Own Dance!" :) Doesn't matter what it looks like as long as the person doing it A) Has fun
B) Doesn't hurt anyone/themselves
C) Is not chased by wild animals as a result of dancing their own dance. That just implies animal abuse.

I'm serious about never watching any of the classic PBS shows. I know what they are but have no attachment to them. For me they are like a foreign kids TV shows. We had NBC and CBS until we got cable when I was 13.

I think that's all the channels we had on our black and white TV too. Never had cable growing up. It's ok, I missed your Teletubbies by about 10 years, which was an undiluted blessing.

My goodness, lotsa chat again while I was out trying to run cars off the road with my truck.
All this talk of Captain Kangaroo which thankfully I've never seen.
Australians have grown up for 50 odd years with Play School. The most successful Australian show ever in meeting the requirements of it's target audience - preschoolers.
Thankfully the success of Sesame Street here hasn't got the whole population ending an alphabet recital with "zee" instead of the correct pronunciation of "zed".:D

The car behind that bikini looks like an Oz Holden FJ circa 1952.

Funny thing about dance lessons - I go for one hour walks and feel no ill effects. I dance like an ungainly moose for an hour and my hips hurt from the sidestepping.

Your right. I need to stop before she sets up a trap on I-40 for me next time I try to go to the mountains. I think it would be thousands of broken scupernog wine bottles laid accross the road.

Camo poncho do?

Uh, no, sorry...we already covered this. Wearing camo makes that body part effectively "disappear"...in a camo poncho you would look like a disembodied head walking around - too bizarre! Either go with the toga, or refer to post #7553, where Hikerboy so thoughtfully provided a color chart. I'm picturing you in a sedate, yet elegant shade "Midas"...the metallic gold, first row, first column...

Camo poncho do?

Yes. The banned camo item was a camo cumberbund which would make your mid-section disappear. The rules committee met and decided a that only having a head visible would be OK.

I think I'd better go with 3rd column, 3rd row - the blue would better accentuate my silver hair and beard. (Ooooooo, look at me use them big ol' words like I know what they mean: accentuate!)

With my ugly mug, maybe I'd better just wear a camo head covering, so my head will disappear and not scare the ladies. Plus the above cummerbund. OK, OK, I'll wear clothing as well.

It doesn't matter what I plan to wear - my wife won't let me out to play anyway. It's all I can do to get her to agree to another thru-attempt in 2016. Ya'll have fun.

Hey all... I just met 3 new peeps from Whiteblaze... they are soooo nice!! This weekend has been the perfect weather for hiking in VA. The sunrises and sunsets are beyond words....

We are thankful for WB b/c we wouldn't have been sitting around a table, last night, at the Homeplace enjoying the BEST food on the trail without this connection. :) Someone should start a thread about WB connections and "meet ups". It's a very cool thing!! :)
