All right. Maybe someone can help me here or maybe someone will see this and have more info. Here's the story.

On Monday, a new member named Trail Taker posted this picture in the WB Gallery It was titled Bill Edson, Amp and others. Bill Edson was my scoutmaster for troop 456 in Clearwater, FL. He's the guy in the red shirt. My Dad is in the picture (2nd guy from the right). I think the picture was taken in the Everglades around 1970. I have PMed Trail Taker twice to find out what connection he had with Bill Edson. I've heard of Amp. I think he is a member here. Trail Talker has no posts and only the one picture has been downloaded. I'm still waiting to hear back from him. Is this a strange coincidence or am I in the Twilight Zone?

Funny the droid was designed in Berkley CA - it was programmed for uh-mer-i-kang-lish (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=uh-mer-i-kang-lish) - noun

A term to describe a slang language based on English, originating out of the United States, which combines all American slang, for example, Valley Girl, Ubonics, Redneckesse, Phillitalian and others in a jumbled mesh of uneducated inept noises and incompleted thought processes. Clearly due to a Publick Education.

I was thinking of making a treadmill with variable pitch & video screen like they do for stationary bike now. I figure I could do videos of the AT, & Long Trail etc. I gave up when I couldn't find one with a steep enough pitch for New England & no matter how I glued the roots & rocks to the tread they keep falling off.

Hey everyone - I've been on a whiteblaze hiatus for some reason. I've been in the woods a lot this fall - especially in North Carolina but have been doing more rock climbing than backpacking. There is a regular campsite "for climbers" (sort of) near Cashiers, NC and I've been there almost every weekend - - there is always a big fire, Coleman Camp Chairs, coolers of food, big tents, and so forth - - I still car camp like a backpacker which is funny to my climbing friends - - no chair, cook on a pocket rocket (or some similar stove), drink my dish water, get water from the creek (vs carrying a truck load of gallon jugs), etc. - - - it's funny though mixing people from different outdoor communities (backpackers, rock climbers, boaters, etc.) and seeing the similarities and differences in styles.

actually, maybe - you know that I'm re-hiking the trail (for the second time) in sections - - I typically do about 200 miles every July and about 200 miles during other times of the year - - this past July, I did US 4 in VT to Pinkham Notch - about 180 miles including most of NH. This summer, I was going to go from Pinkham to Monson - - I still have to re-hike almost all of PA plus most of NY, NJ, some of MD, and some of VA before I go from Monson north, so yeah, I might be able to be there on the 12th of August - - what is special about the 12th of August?

ok - I'll work on it - problem is I have a marvelous wife that lets me spend weeks and weeks on end backpacking and rock climbing and galavanting around the woods and trail towns - - problem is that our wedding anniversary is August 7th and I typically try to be home (if at no other time, then) so, I guess I might have to bring her and my daughter to Monson Me for our party (not completely out of the question) but some planning might be involved.

“In the beginning, God created the earth, and he looked upon it in his cosmic loneliness.

And God said, "Let Us make chicken ankles out of mud, so the mud can see what We have done." And God created every living creature that now moveth, and one was man. Mud as man alone could speak. God leaned close to mud as man sat, looked around, and spoke. "What is the purpose of all this?" he asked politely.

"Everything must have a purpose?" asked God.

"Certainly chicken ankles do," said man.

"Then I leave it to you to think of one for all this," said God.

And He went away.”

I am serious about having fun!

There is only so much one can argue about Lightweight versus Ultralightweight versus Superdupperultralightweight versus Ubersuperdupperultralightweight.

By the way what is the Official base weight to be Ubersuperdupperultralightweight? I would think this requires helium to offset the 3# base weight of the superdupperultralightweight weenies.
